Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] Changing player reloads browse pane?

2008-07-08 Thread dwilliams01

On Windows IE i've noticed that the left side tends to refresh quite
often when it, strickly speaking, wouldn't need to. Actually, it
usually seems to refresh twice in a row. I can get some specific cases
together if needed.

[SlimDevices: Beta] Upgrading TP FW 43, 45, "Ethernet appears disconnected" error

2008-07-08 Thread Mark Lanctot

I first noticed this when upgrading from FW 40 -> 43 and again from 43
-> 45.

When the player reboots after updating the firmware, I can't recall
seeing the Logitech logo. The screen remains dark until a "Ethernet
appears disconnected" error comes on. It's not too serious because the
player comes up normally a few seconds later but it definitely should
not be there and causes a little concern.

My setup: Transporter connected via Ethernet, static IP, latest 7.2
SqueezeCenter nightly running on 64-bit Ubuntu 8.04.

Should I file a bug?

Thanks.

Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] Upgrading TP FW 43, 45, "Ethernet appears disconnected" error

2008-07-08 Thread schiegl

ah, that's true! i already "missed" the logitech logo after upgrading
this evening :-)
On the other hand I can see the logo after a full power cycle (AFAIR)

Although on my transporter (connected via ethernet, wlan disabled) the
first text displayed is "Obtaining IP address...".

kind regards,
Markus

Yes, I see that. My concern is that on the reboot after the FW
upgrade, the screen is dark for a LONG time. It wouldn't be so bad if
the splash screen came up, at least you'd know you haven't killed it.
;-)

Are you using DHCP?

The logo was removed during firmware upgrade a long time ago.
Surprised you just noticed it.

Sorry - I'm not running my SB2 or any other SB on a regular basis, just
my TP, and I only noticed this from 40 -> 43 and 43 -> 45.

Should I file a bug about the Ethernet disconnected error though?

Andy,

When will SqueezeNetwork receive the update to support 192 Kbps MP3
streaming with Rhapsody?

yep!

kind regards,

P.S: If you're "actively" waiting (i usually don't) for the upgrade to
finish it's a long time indeed.

Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] New Music Folder: Is there a better way than using file date/time?

2008-07-08 Thread MelonMonkey

I understood what the OP wants and I understand how/why the New Music
function works the way it does.

But implemented in a different way, it doesn't need to use the file
timestamps at all. iTunes works because it doesn't use the file
timestamps.

When you scan for new music, a DB "date added" timestamp can be created
if the track is being added (ie. it's new to SC). The contents of this
field would be the time the file is being processed by SC, based on the
system clock. When any type of update or rescan is done, this "date
added" field is not touched for tracks that already exist in SC, only
new additions.

The definition of "New Music" would be the 100 (or other number defined
in prefs) albums with the newest (closest to current time) "date added"
fields.

The timestamps of the files themselves are really irrelevant since they
have nothing to do with the newness of the music to SC.

Doing a manual DB wipe or CLEAN and RESCAN would obviously kill your
new music list. But then, that's what you're asking for by choosing
such an option, starting from scratch.
