+1

Keep it (or, bring it back as it were) and let people decide which
location for favorite stations they prefer. There is always the option
to hide that menu item in settings for those that don't want it. :)

I think having it would also cut down on confusion when/if they get the
SC and SN sync functioning.

[SlimDevices: Beta] r23757, bitrate limits static

2008-10-31 Thread snarlydwarf

At least with Softsqueeze (since I am at work right now), bandwidth
limiting on 23757 seems broken: I get white noise on SoftSqueeze, not
music... turning off bandwidth limits restores music, but, well, I
can't justify wasting that much bandwidth here. :(

This appeared sometime in the past couple of days.. don't know if it
affects other platforms or players yet.

Bummer. Can you confirm whether any of the shortcut keys work (like
SPACE, z, b) and do the keys work for inputting text in a text input
screen (such as search for artists)?

Also, I think you said that keys had previously worked for you? If you
could try the earlier images and find out when it worked that would help
pinpoint the problem. See: http://downloads.slimdevices.com/nightly/ for
old versions. I think it would be safest to do a clean install
(uninstall and then remove the SqueezePlay dir under .

I've tested "Other Server" and it doesn't work. At least, when remote.
A manually keyed in IP address of 127.0.0.1 (to go through ssh) just
bounces the menu a bit and sits there.

Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] r3232 causes controller to reboot every 5 mins

2008-10-31 Thread rtitmuss

I'm not sure the log settings will help. A reboot like this is usually
due to the watchdog, and that does not write to the log.

Are you comfortable ssh'ing into the Controller? If so could you try
this:

# stop jive and keep the watchdog happy (you'll need to enter this
within 30 seconds!)
killall jive
watchdog -t 10 /dev/watchdog

# restart jive
cd /usr/bin
./jive&

If I am correct you should the application crash, but the Controller
won't reboot. Is anything displayed on the command line?

Thanks,
Richard

Hmm, your right that's when it rebooted but the cause is not obvious. Do
you have a core file on the SD card? It maybe the app crashed and the
watchdog caused the reboot.

I have been testing with 3 Controllers here, uptime on all of them is >

I reverted back to 3220, but I'll upgrade again to do some testing.

I don't think I had the audio playback enabled. The controller was just
sitting idle beside me, doing nothing. None of the players in the house
were active. When it does reboot, it's seemed to do it silently, with
no startup jingle.

My guess is that it was rebooting around the time the screensaver
should kick in, but I have a vars directory on the SD card I use for FW
upgrades, so I'll let it reboot and attach a log.

Yes, I reduced the audio latency to get the ui sound effects closer to
the key/wheel input. That's made the audio under run on the Controller
sometimes.I have a cunning plan on how to fix that, but won't get to
that until next week.

I think I'll increase the audio latency until I work on this further,
as I agree at the moment it's not good to listen to.

That's not good. I'll look into it.

Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] Three cheers for SBC r3220....

2008-10-31 Thread Howard Passman

I want to see what tonights release will bring, but r3232 is still too
iffy. Even in the cradle and 6 inches from the router it doesn't play
smoothly for more than a song if that. Nice having a volume control
though :-)

Onward and upward!!

[SlimDevices: Beta] r3232 causes controller to reboot every 5 mins

2008-10-31 Thread oreillymj

Upgraded from 3220. Left the controller sitting idle, doing nothing.
Noticed that it kept rebooting itself.
