Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] SC 7.4 for WHS Thread

2009-05-17 Thread Michael Herger
Did you see the announcement about the switch to the new TinySC branch?

> Hmmm... What's going on here? I went into the server.log file today,

There's an issue with saving the current playlist:
http://bugs.slimdevices.com/show_bug.cgi?id=12080

One other issue imho should be fixed by now (missing autosplit.ix). If you
still see this with today's build, please file a bug.

Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] 7.4 nightlies - important info

2009-05-17 Thread bakker_be

It seems the new scanner doesn't like lossless APE-files. It's been
scanning at my 25K library for an hour now (for the fifth time) and
never gets past the one album I have in lossless APE, somewhere around
track 9157. The previous version didn't have this problem, and did a
complete scan (purge and rescan everything) in about 45 minutes.

Info:

Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] 7.4 nightlies - important info

2009-05-17 Thread BlueScreenJunky

I'd like to test that, but is there a simple way to switch back and
forth between 7.4 and 7.3 ? Because I'm willing to test 7.4 extensively
this afternoon, but I'd like to switch back to 7.3 during the week (we
use the Boom as an alarm clock, and my gf uses the SB3 while I'm away
and she's not really into debugging software, so I need something stable
^^).

I also wanted to say that this is great news : That's the kind of
improvements I like to see, more than new features.

I've got the same problem. I don't have to do anything, just upgrade to
the latest build. It looks like DEP is the problem. Changed to scan only
windows services and executables, and it looks like the problem has
gone.

[SlimDevices: Beta] WoL and other issues with 7.4 26644

2009-05-17 Thread MadScientist

For some reason 7.4 26644 keeps waking my SG from standby (XP machine).

Another, possibly related, issue is that random 'Song mix' won't clear
unlil you have cleared the playlist. This is maintained even if
SB3/Transporter has been turned off and there is continued disc read
activity by SC. It is also impossible to restart a random 'Song mix'
until the old playlist has been cleared.

Not sure if anyone can suggest what's going on? Here's a portion of
the SC server log during my SC standby/wake period

Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] 7.4 nightlies - important info

2009-05-17 Thread BlueScreenJunky

OK, I reinstalled from scratch and it worked (I had no feedback on the
scanning though, except in the log file). There seems to be a slight
performance boost : It took 6:00 minutes instead of 6:20 to scan my 7000
files, and the web interface seems a little more responsive.
According to Windows Seven Task manager, it uses more memory than
before, but I'm not sure that's reliable, for some reason 7.3 started at
120MB and slowly dropped to around 30MB, while mySQL started at 30MB and
dropped to 4MB after a few minutes. 7.4 starts at 120MB and keep using
120MB.

I was unable to download TitleSwitcher from the repos, but I'm not sure
if squeezecenter is to blame or if the repos is just unavailable ^^;

Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] Problems with playlists

2009-05-17 Thread SuperQ

Updated to 7.4~26650, still unable to play any playlist files. Very
strange. I've tried turning on playlist debug level logging, but I'm
not getting anything on the server side.

I am getting lots of errors in the log anyway:

Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] WoL and other issues with 7.4 26644

2009-05-17 Thread autopilot

I have also had problems with my server waking with 26644, but not sure
exactly why. A server can't wake itself up if its sleeping can it?, most
likely that the nightly came with updated firmware for a player thats
had some changes to the WOL code - but dont think anything has been
updated has it?

Baffled TBH.

OK, looks like it's locking up on that ape file. Can you file a bug
and attach that file?

All NAS devices using some 3rd party extension will need to have updated
perl packages. This includes SSODS, SSOTS, SlimNAS etc.

[SlimDevices: Beta] SC 7.4-26650 Scan not initiating

2009-05-17 Thread FredFredrickson

Windows XP, fresh install, new library.

>From either the windows control panel, or the web panel, 7.4-26650 when
you click rescan, nothing happens at all. Viewing the information tab
to see the scanning process shows a counter that says that it's
completed scanning, and just counts up from there. Nothing ever
happens.

latest 7.3.3 (7.3.3-26557) scanner working fine

Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] 7.4 nightlies - important info

2009-05-17 Thread QDon

As a SC user on QNAP devices I am sure I am one of thousands (dare I say
tens of thousand) of SC on QNAP users. Is it possible for you to create
compiled versions for QNAP like you do for the readynas devices? I think
there are enough users/demand for this. If it's a question of equipment
I think(hoping) QNAP would be willing to supply you with equipment. This
way we would not have to wait for flip to create a new version of SSODS
and then wait for QNAP to create it's version of SSOTS from the new
SSODS. I think flip has done a great job but I think it's time to go to
a compiled version from SlimDevices. It would make life so much easier.

Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] 7.4 nightlies - important info

2009-05-17 Thread Michael Herger
> Michael ,could you be a bit more verbose on this one?.

In order to get SC running on NAS systems, what fliflip et al. do, is wrap
up a whole bunch of perl files needed to run SC into some package. That
list of perl modules has changed quite a lot since 7.3: MySQL has been
replaced with SQLite, the music file scanner has completely been rewritten
in C, some modules have been updated etc. Therefore we (as the the author
of SlimNAS I'm part of that group) have to re-compile a whole lot of files
to get SC 7.4 up and running on these systems.

Here's a preliminary list of modules which will be needed:

Audio::Scan
Class::XSAccessor
Compress::Raw::Zlib
JSON::XS 2.232
DBD::SQLite
DBI 1.608
EV 3.6
IO::AIO
Linux::Inotify2

This list is neither final, nor fully up to date. Eg. some of the version
numbers might still change until the release.

We're very likely going to provide binaries for ARM based systems. This
should help 3rd parties a lot in getting SC up and running on any such
system, even if we can't provide the installation package for them.

> If it's a question of equipment
> I think(hoping) QNAP would be willing to supply you with equipment.

We would really love to see SC running on any system available out there.
But we do not have the resources to develop, maintain and test these
distributions. That said we'll try to help 3rd parties as much as possible
to get their packages up and running.
