I agree, I would like to know which video files are supposed to work.
In RC2 I could not play .avi or .divx files. Is that expected or??

This should be resolved in the next nightly build: Andy removed the

Are you running latest code? Any 3rd party extension or Custom.pm? We had
a change a few days ago which could have caused this, but Andy fixed it
soon after. Shouldn't happen in the latest nightly.

Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] Lms 7.7 rc3

2011-09-26 Thread Mnyb

Installed just fine .

Restart command bug is yet not fixed so it does not auto-start after
install .

# service squeezeboxserver start

is still the start command and squeezeboxserver is still the user, name
change is for appearance on web-UI etc not more than skin deep thankyou
! (no such bugs as last time around )

LMS kicks of a full rescan directly after start ?? why ??
No chance to enter any picture or video folders and then start the scan
yourself.

Can someone explain the design decision to autoscan after install ?

Sometimes you have schema changes that demands rescan .

But why not just have a message "you must do a full clear and rescan
before using LMS 7.x.y" .

And then the user could review his library settings and then start the
scan.

I'll let the server scan while I'm at work I try to use in LMS the
afternoon and report bugs if I find any

Let me repeat my mantra:

Please file a bug report on this against SB Server 7.7.0 if one does
not already exist:
http://bugs.slimdevices.com/

All problems with LMS 7.7.0 Release Candidates should be documented by
bug reports, so Logitech does not overlook them when deciding that a RC
is "good enough" for the October 3rd release.

but once you stop from the tray (and it has stopped), do you get the

What exactly are you missing? www.herger.net/slim/slimnas-2.0.2.tgz should
run 7.7 just fine. Please give it a try!

I'm guessing no. See command output from Fedora 16 below

perlbug -dv | grep 64bit
use64bitint=undef, use64bitall=undef, uselongdouble=undef
use64bitall=''
use64bitint=''

[SlimDevices: Beta] Logitech Media Server 7.7 dosn't work on Fedora 16 (perl 5.14.1)

2011-09-26 Thread agillis

Fedora 16 with Perl 5.14.1 will be out around the same time as LMS is
released so it's important that they work together.

When I run LMS on Fedora 16 I get an error
The following modules failed to load: DBI EV XML::Parser::Expat
JSON::XS Digest::SHA1 YAML::XS Sub::Name

This usually mean LMS can't find it's perl libs and sure enough

/usr/libexec/squeezeboxserver --d_startup

shows

Extended @INC to contain:
/usr/share/squeezeboxserver/CPAN/arch/5.14/i386-linux-thread-multi
/usr/share/squeezeboxserver/CPAN/arch/5.14/i386-linux-thread-multi/auto
/usr/share/squeezeboxserver/CPAN/arch/5.14.1/i386-linux-thread-multi
/usr/share/squeezeboxserver/CPAN/arch/5.14.1/i386-linux-thread-multi/auto
/usr/share/squeezeboxserver/CPAN/arch/5.14/i386-linux-thread-multi
/usr/share/squeezeboxserver/CPAN/arch/5.14/i386-linux-thread-multi/auto
/usr/share/squeezeboxserver/CPAN/arch/i386-linux-thread-multi

Looks like LMS is looking in the old location not

/usr/share/squeezeboxserver/CPAN/arch/5.14/i386-linux-thread-multi-64int

I renamed i386-linux-thread-multi-64int to i386-linux-thread-multi and
tried again

This time I got a lot farther but I still get

The following modules failed to load: EV

I created a bug report for this

http://bugs.slimdevices.com/show_bug.cgi?id=17597

Has anybody managed to get LMS working on Fedora 16 or a Perl 5.14.1
platform?

Thanks for the confirmation, Phil - looks like a general problem on

It was definitely hung - I run the server on my wife's PC, so I just
left it all morning, and when I came back the uninstall process was
still sitting there using zero CPU.

The log shows an almost immediate abnormal exit on the changed scan, but
a full scan works OK.

Yeah. But if you have a Boom, try it on that. The "blank page" comes up
on the Boom's display, and makes it look like it's crashed.

7.7/trunk/platforms/redhat/squeezeboxserver.spec

has this in line 50

Code:

Obsoletes: squeezecenter, slimserver, SliMP3

So upgrading from slimserver or squeezecenter is ok :)

Surely this is as simple as adding 'Obsoletes: squeezeboxserver' to the

Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] Lms 7.7 rc2

2011-09-26 Thread Phil Leigh

The RC2 install is borked on Win 7 - exactly as Bill Burns described.
See attached screenshots after 30 mins...
If you kill the uninstall process in Task Manager, it then completes
OK.

The problems appear to be related to squeezetray.exe...

The initial scan (post-install) appears to complete OK but... New Music
is empty... and a new/changed scan immediately kicks off...
After that all seems OK. Music scanned fine, all present and correct -
except for a new intolerance (well, a warning message in scanner.log)
for rating tags containing decimal points (e.g. "3.5").

Crazy, on trying to wake the server with the Boom this morning, it

I'll monitor this to see if the problem returns before filing a bug
