Aha that's all I've found those :) ok it works as designed , don't remove it , it mostly aimed at other developers to use is it ? Primarily for myself, to validate the changes. And as a demo for plugin developers to show what can be done, and how it can be done. I'm probably going to provide a different plugin which will make a little more sense. Not strictly for the end-user, as it'll will require you to do some SQL. But it would allow for experienced users to do sub-libraries, and easily share these by posting some SQL to copy/paste. -- Michael ___ beta mailing list beta@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/beta

Ok, here's something you could start playing with. Check out Slim::Utils::GDResizer. There are two parameters which can influence the image quality: the resizing algorithm and the JPG compression (for those formats saved as JPGs). Look for $im->resize and $im->as_jpg calls. Then check out the documentation for Image::Scale (http://search.cpan.org/~agrundma/Image-Scale-0.06/lib/Image/Scale.pm) and the underlying GraphicsMagick (should you decide to use a different algorithm). Easiest and quickest to test would be to change the quality param in as_jpeg. Default is 90. Changing the algorithm might require a bit more testing. Please let me know about your findings should you decide to investigate these options. Have fun! ___ beta mailing list beta@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/beta

I have a feeling that the loss in quality that I saw between 7.5 and 7.6 had more to do with the quality level at which the thumbnails were rendered, rather than the results of using successively smaller images to resize the series. frank1969 wrote: > Both - why should there be two different ways of browsing, if they lead > to the SAME result? > > Ok, maybe you can explain, how it is intended to work? I don't see it... Let's say you want to browse the "main" artists in your library. Artists that have albums. You browse "Album Artists". But you'll have access to all of their recordings, including their one track on a soundtrack album and that track on a Christmas collection. Now, lets say you want to see everyone in your library, even those 350 people that you never really heard of who have a track on an 80s disco hits collection or a 1970s AM radio hits release, or who sang as a guest on a 1956 Peter Seger album. You can browse "All Artists". And "all" really means ALL: both the common and the obscure artists in your library. The alternative (and the way it used to work) is to set the option to a "Single, configurable list of artists" and then set either "List compilation albums under each artist" or "Group compilation albums together". The former configures the artist list to include all artists, while the latter makes it include only album artists. So it was an either/or deal. If you wanted an uncluttered artist list, then you didn't have an easy way to browse the more obscure artist names in the library. With the new option, you have both immediately available. Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] Seperate menus for Album Artist in 7.9
Both are lists of artists, used to get to a list of albums that that artist has involvement on. The original list of artists could be configured to be a full list, or a sub-set in various ways, but required changing the server settings in the web UI. Now it is possible to have two lists to avoid changing settings. Anywhere in the web UI where you see an artist, album artist, track artist, band/orchestra, composer or conductor, clicking on that name will show a list of all works by that artist.
