[SlimDevices: Beta] Lost ability to play on software players
Today I lost all control of my LMS using software players. I'm using 7.9, and was on last night's build. I've gone back to an earlier one but still nothing. I'm very confused. The log is absolutely full of the following. Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] Lost ability to play on software players
Hmmm, good question. But then again, I've had the internet connection go down but continue to use my local LMS to play my own music to my Squeezebox players. They are all hardware players (touch, transporter, radio), but I can't see why software SB players would be any different. And all my players are registered with mysb.com, etc. Were you trying to play local music or internet streaming? *Home:* VortexBox 4TB (2.3) LMS 7.8 Transporter, Touch, Boom, Radio w/Battery (all ethernet except Radio) *Cottage:* VBA 3TB (2.3) LMS 7.8 Touch Benchmark DAC I, Boom, Radio w/Battery (all ethernet except Radio) *Office:* Win7(64) LMS 7.8 Squeezelite *Spares:* Touch(3), Radio(3), Boom, SB3, CONTROLLER *Controllers:* iPhone4S iPadAir2 (iPeng8 Squeezepad), CONTROLLER, or SqueezePlay 7.8 on Win7(64) laptop *Files:* ripping: dbpoweramp FLAC; post-rip: mp3tag, PerfectTunes; Streaming: Spotify garym's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=17325 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=102757 ___ beta mailing list beta@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/beta

In my cases they show as not connected because they are all instead connected to my local LMS. Been a while, but I recall that when I setup my players initially, I had to enter my mysqueezebox.com account information. This was the registration. Although I'm using LMS, some streaming requires the mysb.com intermediary (siriusXM, pandora, etc.) *Home:* VortexBox 4TB (2.3) LMS 7.8 Transporter, Touch, Boom, Radio w/Battery (all ethernet except Radio) *Cottage:* VBA 3TB (2.3) LMS 7.8 Touch Benchmark DAC I, Boom, Radio w/Battery (all ethernet except Radio) *Office:* Win7(64) LMS 7.8 Squeezelite *Spares:* Touch(3), Radio(3), Boom, SB3, CONTROLLER *Controllers:* iPhone4S iPadAir2 (iPeng8 Squeezepad), CONTROLLER, or SqueezePlay 7.8 on Win7(64) laptop *Files:* ripping: dbpoweramp FLAC; post-rip: mp3tag, PerfectTunes; Streaming: Spotify garym's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=17325 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=102757 ___ beta mailing list beta@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/beta

Some people have no local LMS at all and some have music services and use radio apps that needs the mysb.com infrastructure in the background even if you use local LMS . Logitech does not give away this service for free ,its included when you buy a squeezebox . So they need some sort of registration/sanity check so that only proper squeezeboxes connects and uses the services . And some services are personalized to your account and your player . In turns out that all my players, including non-LMS players (UPnP renderers) are registered there, even though I really don't want them to be. I am now in a very strange situation. I completed deleted LMS and reinstalled it (latest 7.9). My UPnP devices (1 hardware and 2 software running at present) show as players, even though I have not yet run squeeze2upnp (a squeelite variant to support UPnP renderers). It seems that mysqueezebox.com has got to know about them, and insists they exist and tells LMS. So I log onto mysqueezebox.com and delete them. Stop and restart LMS. And they come back again! Further, mysqueezebox.com has got to know about them again. I have disabled upnp within LMS (using a --noupnp startup option) just in case the LMS UPnP server facility was getting into the act somehow. Clarify that statement a bit. When you say they come back and mysb.com has got to know about them again, do you mean that the players again show up in mysqueezebox.com as registered players? But i dont think this is your problem or a problem for you , it is a potential problem for mysb.com as they register players that should not really belong (no real hardware player sold ). Do playback work again ? Seems that the LMS/mysqueezebox.com conection issue is gone anyway . Well I now seem to have made these devices disappear from mysqueezebox.com, and stay so (it seems you have to save the player preferences after deleting them - I may not have done so). However, is there something new in LMS 7.9 latest about upnp devices? My software renderers now appear all the time in the players list. Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] Lost ability to play on software players
Well, all very strange. I kept having some UPnP renderers show up as LMS players even though the software to drive them (called squeeze2upnp) definitely wasn't running. After managing the interface between my head and a brick wall, reinstalling LMS 7.9 latest (deleting most things but not the prefs), rescanning, I still had a problem. I found and edited the offending devices out of server.prefs, and although they got added in again to server.prefs and showed briefly as LMS players the next time the driving software (squeeze2upnp) ran they disappeared properly when it was stopped, and the other players are now working properly again. So I think some setting in server.prefs must have got corrupted somehow. I still don't know how the UPnP devices got registered in mysb.com, but that can remain a little puzzle (for now at least).
