[SlimDevices: Beta] Windows Firewall Inbound Rules

2010-09-15 Thread PSSO

Every time I install a new nightly (or the same nightly twice) the
installation creates a new entry in the Inbound Rules of the Windows
Firewall.
If I delete all but one of the entries things are still working fine.

Is this a bug?

[SlimDevices: Beta] Firmware 7.6 r9069 bricked my Controller

2010-08-27 Thread PSSO

Installed firmware 7.6. r9069 on my Controller and after the reboot it
became unresponsive. I then tried a factory reset by pressing ’+’ while
booting, but now I can't even select a language in setup menu Choose
Language
I then tried to revert to the previous firmware by holding the volume
up button while rebooting, but it did not revert the firmware.

What to do now?

That's a bit more complicated. That is indeed the installer crashing.
Can you reliably reproduce it? If so, do you see it an all your Windows
 machines (you're using various versions)?

Strange - Have now tried to install 20752 on two different Vista x64
systems and had only the missing msvcr71.dll problem. On my
production SqueezeCenter (Windows 2008 32bit) also the msvcr71.dll
problem. But on my newly installed Windows 2008 32bit (on Virtuel PC)
the installer crashed. I will do some more testing and get back to you.

I wanted to test scanner.exe via the command line, but I don't know what
 parameters to use.

You can use scanner.exe --help to see the options, if you use the 7.0.1
version.
No command lines are possible with scanner.exe from version 7.1.0 or
they don't work at moment

[SlimDevices: Beta] scanner.exe 7.1 - 19545 problem.

2008-05-08 Thread PSSO

scanner.exe from SqueezeCenter-7.1-19545.exe does no scan at all

No output in scanner.log (with debug option enabled) and no errors in
server.log

If I take scanner.exe from SqueezeCenter-7.0.1-19522.exe it is possible
to make a scan of my music library

The following is from 7.1 19545

C:\Program Files\SqueezeCenter\serverscanner.exe --help
The following CPAN modules were found but cannot work with
SqueezeCenter:
Net::DNS (loaded not found, need 0.58)

To fix this problem you have several options:
1. Install the latest version of the module(s) using CPAN: sudo cpan
Some::Modul
e
2. Update the module's package using apt-get, yum, etc.
3. Run the .tar.gz version of SqueezeCenter which includes all required
CPAN mod
ules.

Is there a problem with 7.1 scanner.exe ?

SqueezeCenter Version: 7.1 - 19545 @ Thu May 8 01:19:41 PDT 2008 -
Windows Vista - EN - cp1252
Perl Version: 5.8.8 MSWin32-x86-multi-thread

Will it be possible to fix this ?

Windows 2008 core installation for sure isn't a priority for now. But

we'll have to think about some fallback mechanism. But c:\programdata
 does
exist by default? This could be a possible hard coded fallback value,
 if
 there's no registry entry.

Could you please open a bug report against this? This will help us not
 to
 forget it. Thanks!

 Michael

Bug report http://bugs.slimdevices.com/show_bug.cgi?id=6140

The C:\ProgramData folder does exists per default and there are a
environment variable called ProgramData with the value C:\ProgramData,
so maybe this colud be a fallback.

Thank you for your help.

Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] Unattended setup

2007-11-11 Thread PSSO

Tried a SlimServer_trunk_v2007-11-10.exe /VERYSILENT /SP-
/SUPPRESSMSGBOXES /NOICONS and the c:\program files\SqueezeCenter and
the c:\programdata\SqueezeCenter folder were created, but SqueezeCenter
process died with the same error as before
(C:\PROGRA~1\SQUEEZ~1\server\Bin\MSWIN3~1\mysqld.ex e: Can't
create/write to file
'\SqueezeCenter\Cache\MySQL\/SqueezeCenter/Cache/squeezecenter-mysql.pid'
(Errcode: 2)). Now there were also a c:\SqueezeCenter folder.

Then I used the ServiceEnabler.exe program to make SqueezeCenter run as
service, just to see if that made a difference, but no.

I also tried with the /LOG option, but no installations errors.

On another machine, I then made a new and full installation of Windows
Server 2008 (RC0) and did exact the same installation as before
(SlimServer_trunk_v2007-11-10.exe /VERYSILENT /SP- /SUPPRESSMSGBOXES
/NOICONS). No problems at all and no c:\SqueezeCenter folder.

So something is obviously going wrong during the first startup after an
installation (on the core version). I just can#8217;t figure out what.
The user on the full installation and the user on the core installation
have the same environment variables. There is of course the difference
between a full and a core (no html) installation of Windows 2008, so
maybe the first startup is depending on some html stuff or something
else that is not a part of an core installation.

Please let me known if there is anything else I can try out.

 '\SqueezeCenter\Cache\MySQL\/SqueezeCenter/Cache/squeezecenter-mysql.pid'

That's odd. Can you open your server's registry and see whether there's
 a
 value for
 LMachine/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Explorer/Shell
 Folders/Common AppData ?

Then I used the ServiceEnabler.exe program to make SqueezeCenter run
 as
service, just to see if that made a difference, but no.

ServiceEnabler won't work without a GUI.

On another machine, I then made a new and full installation of

So you're seeing different results on different machines? Are you using

core installs on both of them?

Please let me known if there is anything else I can try out.

Core probably doesn't initialize those registry keys, as there's no
Explorer running? You should still be able to install using the
 --prefsdir/cachedir etc. options.

 Michael

I'm running Server Core on one machine and a full version of Server
2008 (non-core) on another machine.

It is possible to run a GUI installation on the server core version
as long the installation doesn't want to create a icon on the desktop
(because there are none and no explorer) or tries to start IE to
display some html stuff.

So it is possible to do a GUI installation with
SlimServer_trunk_v2007-11-10.exe until the point where it tries to load
the SqueezeCenter Setup Assistant. The Setup Assistant can then be
loaded from another machine (http://xx.xx.xx:9000) to continue / finish
the setup.

Back to the problem.

On the server core version the
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell
Folders\ key were empty, no Common AppData entry.

On the non server core version, the Common AppData (and other) entries
are OK.

So on the server core version I created the
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell
Folders\Common Data key pointing to C:\ProgramData and BINGO - now it
is running (accept for the SetUp Assistant)

The squeezecenter --install and net start squeezesvc installation is
also working, so the problem was the missing Common AppData registry
key.

Will it be possible to fix this ?

Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] New Default skin

2007-10-22 Thread PSSO

if I disable iTunes (SqueezeCenter - Settings - Extras) and update from
SlimServer_trunk_v2007-10-21 to SlimServer_trunk_v2007-10-22 then
iTunes is enabled!

Have tried with several nightlies.

I'm doing something wrong ?

SqueezeCenter Version: 7.0 - 13905 - Windows Server 2003 - EN - cp1252
Perl Version: 5.8.8 MSWin32-x86-multi-thread
MySQL Version: 5.0.22-community-nt
