I use MIP 1.8b and with SqueezeCenter Version: 7.0.1.
I can no longer send a mix from the MIP GUI to SC.
Also, I used to be able to create a mix with MIP headless for Genre,
Album, Year etc.
That function is inop as the attempted playlist returns "Empty".

No suggestion but to add to your point, as I've said in another post,
the nightly spends 10-15 minutes thrashing the hard drive before it
finally loads.
I that REALLY necessary?
Probably not but as the brain trust "fixes" 1 bug, more are usually
created.
Spaghetti code reveals itself during execution for the most part.

Hi Andy,

The churning occurs even after a full scan is complete and saved, after
reboot, restart, etc.
Yes, it occurs at startup.

It settles in about 10 minutes, after a clean scan or rescan.

After that it loads normally on restart or reboot if nothing new added
to db.

Trouble is, I usually have something to add on every boot, so the next
start, I am finding something to do while the server churns away.

Hi Mike,
Slow start-up... is it here to stay?
As the fix you recommended has no affect on the 3-10 minutes it takes
to get to a fully loaded interface, is there a fix for this issue
coming?

Hi Valdemar,
You must reset the xilinx on FW40 downgrade.
Plug the unit to power while holding down the "1" key on the remote,
after you have DG to FW36.

[SlimDevices: Beta] Missing tracks?

2008-03-13 Thread haunyack

I've noticed that SC7 does not get all my tracks on a fresh scan.
MIP has the correct list at 116,538.
SC7 reports 112,575.
I've cleared the cache and temps, same result.

Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] Missing tracks?

2008-03-14 Thread haunyack

Seems the GF transferred some Itunes DRM tracks into my library
unbeknownst to me.
Looks like SC scanner hit the wall on finding the DRM tracks just quit
it's discovery and proceeded to scan up to that point only.
I would have expected to see an objection in the scanner.log but none
appeared.

Should have been alerted when some time back she complained that my
"over the top" audio system refused to play her music.

Painful, slow, frustrating process dealing with Windows explorer when
the directory contains 116,000+ files.

The demon has been excorsized!

Yea...I have it structured music/band/album/tracks.

I'm really just about done with Redmond when it comes to SC.
I'm an old fart stuck in my ways and am reticent to stick my toe in the

It's about time I think.

I think it was the DRM that caused the prob.
I nuked the DRM and the SC scanner took care of the rest.

Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] Missing tracks?

2008-03-15 Thread haunyack

Not so fast - I've just run into the problem again with the nightly
SqueezeCenter-7.0.1-17889.
I've verified no DRM tracks in the SC library.

Initial scan is about 4000 tracks short.

okay - I uninstalled the nightly and installed
SqueezeCenter-7.0.1-17830 and vwala!
All tracks are reported correctly.

Something in the last couple days has changed and produced a bug?

The reason I'd like to stick with this fw is the 88.2 capability.

Likewise - it's been a pain in the <___> for me, as much of my library

The truncation problem forced me to re-rip a good portion of my library

Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] Server log

So I changed out my speaker cables for a pair of $60,000.00 magnet
wires.
Also modified my Transporter with radio shack circuit boards and
connectors.
Isolation platforms everywhere.

The improvement in sound was earthshattering.
Highs are lower and the lows are higher.
Midrange substantially more downrange.

Only problem is I get this message in the server log -

Slim::Utils::Misc::msg (1191) Warning: [16:17:01.7643] Use of
uninitialized value in hash element at
/Slim/Player/Squeezebox.pm
line 1138.
Slim::Plugin::CLI::Plugin::cli_process (639) Request [trackstat]

Do you think I need Bybee filters or more esoteric power conditioning?

Perhaps more patience with the "know-it-alls" (whom I humbly ask
advise) who only respond when they feel like it?

So the headings that were the "Home" page are in the drop-down for
Fishbone?
That's an extra mouse click I could do without.
The format also lends itself to clutter in the left pane.

Works fine here.

This is a nice addition and provides a function I did not know I
needed.
Elegant solution for users like myself who tend to fiddle with
configs.

For Joe 6 pack I could forsee a "huh?" moment.
Perhaps add another level such as -

- Server -
[ ] Default
[ ] Advanced

The new layout works for me.

I would not object to the exta layer (default/custom) for those who may

Hi Michael,

This was during an initial scan with cache and temp folders empty.
When that is finished I'll do a rescan and take a look.

For that matter, being able to shut down server components inividually

It would be nice to have some sort of control over scanner.exe in the
UI.
As it is...I must physically remove scanner.exe from the SC directory
if I wish to perform maintenance on my music libray while listening,
otherwise the scanner kicks in and hogs resources I need for other
operations.

Thanks kdf,

No itunes, but I'm in the middle of cleaning up many thousands of track

I'll clear the log and try samples of each file-type and post the
