Usually it's advisable to remove ID3v1 as well if you have any in your
files and only use ID3v2.

You could also delete/rename all *.db files in the cache folder.
Usually the artwork.db will grow over time to cache the graphics in
various resolutions.

The characters STS and CCH are the Unicode C293 (U+0093) and C294
(U+0094), which look similar to the regular double quotes character and
the peace character in between seems not to be read properly. The
regular double quotes character is not allowed as part of directory or
file names in Windows, but using similar ones is ok. The Unicode peace
character is U+262E, which is also allowed in file or folder names.

BTW, what does LMS say about the language and code page? You can find it
on the web UI settings->information tab, under LMS status. Mine, for
example is "Operating system: Windows 10 - EN - cp1252".

If your library is not too big I'd set the log settings for the scanner
to Debug and run a full scan again to have all the details in the
scanner.log.
Otherwise, I'd try with just the missing folder as the only part of your
library. Guess the following should allow you to revert things easily:
stop LMS to rename the cache folder and your library root folder, copy
the concerned folder to a new directory named like your old library root
folder, and restart LMS which causes a new full scan.

Trying from a command prompt was just a means to understand the

Running LMS with --nomysb at startup from a scheduled task works fine
here.

Have you disabled the LMS service when you do this? Did you use an admin
account to run the task? And did you select to run the task even if the
user is not logged on (sorry if this sounds like a stupid question)?

And why do you want to run LMS from task scheduler in the first place
instead of running as service? Is it to avoid having to add the --nomysb
parameter manually after installing a new version? In this case you
could also use a batch file adding the parameter to the registry...

But I can confirm from the process list that the service is running with

Running the server as a regular executable with the --nomysqueezebox

As you can see, in the query grouped by namesort \xC3\x85 would be its
own item, thus creating its own letter in the index bar. Whereas the
real query would put it with all the As in the list. I'm no SQLite
expert, thus might be missing the obvious. But I'd say we're applying
 the same collation there.

Being no SQLite expert, too, I tried several different statements and
found that GROUP BY actually uses a COLLATE sequence.
I downloaded SQLite Expert Pro that provides built-in ICU support
(switched on in the options).
And I used this data in the contributors table:

Code:

id namesort
  20ADELE
  21ALANIS MORISSETTE
  22Å NIKKI YANOFSKY
  23A FINE FRENZY
  24XYZ

First, I loaded the collation like this: SELECT
icu_load_collation('de_DE', 'de_DE')
Then I executed this:

Code:

SELECT SUBSTR(contributors.namesort,1,1), count(distinct contributors.id)
  FROM contributors
  GROUP BY SUBSTR(contributors.namesort,1,1) COLLATE de_DE

which returned this:

Code:

A 3
  Å 1
  X 1

When I use GROUP BY without COLLATE I get this:

Code:

A 3
  X 1
  Å 1

So the collation sequence is in fact used by the GROUP BY. The ICU
ordering for a given locale can be checked here:
http://demo.icu-project.org/icu-bin/locexp.

Things change when the ORDER BY comes into play:

Code:

SELECT SUBSTR(contributors.namesort,1,1), count(distinct contributors.id)
  FROM contributors
  GROUP BY SUBSTR(contributors.namesort,1,1) COLLATE de_DE
  ORDER BY contributors.namesort COLLATE de_DE

delivers this:

Code:

Å 1
  A 3
  X 1

Now the characters are in the wrong order: A should be before Å, I'd say
(the ORDER BY without COLLATE results in the Å after the X). Specifying
COLLATE in the GROUP BY clause seems to have no effect when the ORDER BY
is following.

I don't have enough SQL knowledge to find an explanation or solution...

A few ideas:

- Tried to list the files on your NAS-HDD from your LMS-PC (by OS means)
to see if that's slow as well?
BTW, which Win OS are you using?

- Check what Windows Update did to your system. If it's not too much you
might be able to revert the one or the other - or check what system
restore points are available and try to go back.

- Check resource consumption of the LMS process while LMS is scanning:
memory, disk I/O rate, network I/O rate (e.g using the built-in perfmon
or Sysinternals Process Explorer).

Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] another artwork quirk

2011-08-14 Thread reinholdk

I have a 2-disc album called 'Live' and a single song from another
artist's album that's also called 'Live'. The songs of the 2-disc album
are all in one folder containing both cover.jpg and folder.jpg, while
the single song has embedded artwork and resides in a completely
different folder.

My setting is to show multi-disc sets as separate albums.

The problem is now that the first disc of the 2-disc set displays the
cover of the completely unrelated single song.

Tags are shown in the Mp3tag screenshot (note the cd numbers):
12299

Workaround: after removing the '1/1' from the discnumber tag of the
single song and after a scan for changes the correct cover is
displayed. (At least for 7.6.1 - r33068; it didn't solve the problem in
7.5.4).

Obviously, the scanner has an issue in associating artworks to albums
in this special case.

Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] SQLite WAL in 7.6.1 - please test

2011-08-12 Thread reinholdk

Trying to help with testing, I just installed r33068 on a virtual
machine that had no SBS before (running Win7 Enterprise as the guest
os). The initial scan succeeded and reports the same number of tracks
as my SBS 7.5.4 on the host PC. (The music folder on the host was
mounted to a drive in the guest.)

The number of albums are different, though. Don't know whether this is
expected due to the modified scanner process.

7.6.1 - r33068:
Total Tracks: 9,483
Total Albums: 929
Total Artists: 422
Total Genres: 55
Total Playing Time: 805:45:50

7.5.4 - r32171:
Anzahl Titel: 9.483
Anzahl Alben: 988
Anzahl Interpreten: 422
Anzahl Stilrichtungen: 54
Gesamte Spieldauer: 805:45:50

The tracks are 90% flac and 10% mp3, I guess. No playlists, no iTunes,
no MusicIP.

While the scanner was running, I tried to stress the system a bit by
browsing artists in the library via the web UI.
This was a bit strange:
sometimes album pages showed that there's no content yet (via the
general disc symbol), which is perfectly fine. But sometimes the artist
links opened pages of totally different artists than selected. Finally,
after the scanner has finished, everything seems to work properly.

The scanner log has two entries like this among the few lines:

Audio::Scan::scan (64) Warning: Error: Unable to read at least 16 bytes
from file (only read 13).

The server log starts with an exception. Don't know whether this is
expected since there was no database before.
