[SlimDevices: Beta] 7.4 r28379 stalls on startup on ubuntu

I'm seeing an issue I saw before on OSX 10.6 and I've seen reported by
others on OSX 10.6 but I'm seeing it with ubuntu.

I just updated to r28379 and after a while it stalls due to excessive
memory use. It consumes 1GB of memory (not reserved, used!, that's all
it will get on my system). Finally, it blocked the whole server.

I'm using quite a few plugins and will investigate, but I did NOT see
this with last week's build with the same setup.

Update: After about two hours the server (only SC, not mysql or the
wrapper process) crashed and restarted, since then it's working fine.
