Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] Anyone try SC 26785 on Windows XP yet?

2009-06-02 Thread Siduhe

I may have spoken too soon about the scrobbling - just played a couple
of tracks which appeared in my recently playlist list whilst they were
playing, but have since disappeared as soon as the song ended. Not sure
if this is a Last.fm issue or an SC issue but will have a play around in
the logs...sigh.

I've started a new thread about the control panel issues. Please help me
track these down. Thanks!

2009-06-02 Thread Siduhe

I've managed to get v26797 (latest automatic update) working fine, but
only by manually killing the Squeezebox Control Panel process following
installation. The Control Panel process is running but there is no UI
box which pops up as normally so you have to go into a task manager to
kill it.

If you do not kill the cp process, Squeezecenter will not start and I
think others have reported the same on the forums. I think that makes
it mostly rather than completely fixed. ;-)

However it's great to have scrobbling back, so thanks all.

I see the SC process run taking anywhere from 5-8% CPU for literally 20
minutes before I see a web interface at all. It's just too weird. Anyway
I gave on my foray into this new SC. I might try it again one day, but
really I'm more than happy with my 7.4 Trunk.

Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] Anyone try SC 26785 on Windows XP yet?

2009-06-01 Thread dwilliams01

Is that for the control panel app or the actual SC process? I haven't
been home to try the new build yet.

My understanding, could be outdated, is that the control panel isn't
finished yet so I've been holding off really putting it through its
paces. I always figured that there was some sort of timeout it was
waiting for before becomming visible/saving changes or something. I've
also had a couple of them try and come up at once (maybe the install is
attempting to start one or soemthing?). Before I was installing and
then rebooting to let the service (I run SC as a named account service)
do its thing. I'll have to reconfigure it once with the control panel
because I wiped the install this weekend.

By the way, since we are on the install topic. I REALLY like that
install doesn't get tripped up on the virus scanner check anymore. It
took several times without it popping up to allow it network access for
me to notice, but when I finally did it was very nice!!! Great Job!

Yes, I did - thanks!

I also noticed that it got downgraded from "critical" to "major". Out
of curiousity, I wonder what it would take to get something rated
critical? Not starting is about as bad as I'd think it could get unless
there is room being left for things like completely wiping out hard
drives and systems, etc.

Probably because it's only affecting one build and may well just be an
error in the build process. Critical is normally something that's
affecting all versions of code IIRC.
