Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] Removing Common Album Titles - simplifying album creation logic.
All - I've created a patch (against 6.2.2) that removes the common albums prefs, and simplifes the creation of new albums for the general case. It's looking good for me. Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] Removing Common Album Titles - simplifying album creation logic.
I haven't tried the patch (I'm on 6.5), but I've read the comment on the bug, and it sounds like a good step in the right direction. However, I think that maybe common VA album names are more common than you may think - this could be a problem for me. I think you are saying that there is no user workaround for this one - except I suppose to change one of the album names. Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] Removing Common Album Titles - simplifying album creation logic.
Not at all. Reading the bug report comments seems to indicate that if these tracks are tagged correctly as belonging to a compilation album, then they will be properly grouped. As I understand it, if you have two VA albums of the same name, and all tracks on both albums are tagged as belonging to a compilation, all tracks will appear on one album in slimserver. [SlimDevices: Beta] Removing Common Album Titles - simplifying album creation logic.
All - I've created a patch (against 6.2.2) that removes the common albums prefs, and simplifes the creation of new albums for the general case. Please see my patch and comment attached to bug 2976: http://bugs.slimdevices.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2976 Feedback most welcome. It's hard to get this one right (iTunes doesn't even bother), and I know I can't satisify everyone's tagging habits, and directory layouts. Again - I want to catch the 99% use case. -D -- Minds are like parachutes... they work best when open. ___ beta mailing list beta@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/beta
