[SlimDevices: Beta] SB3 press and hold left

2008-05-10 Thread Phil Meyer
I saw that a change has just been checked in to make press and hold of
left-arrow do a "Home" function.

This is the wrong thing to do with an SB1/2/3/Transporter. Isn't this the same
as pressing "Now Playing" on the remote, or am I missing something? I liked to
use that to go back to the connect menu, whereby I could select to switch to a
different connection

Press-and-hold in power-off mode now does nothing (I'm using WeatherTime
screensaver plugin).

Phil - press and hold to disconnect is handled in the firmware and
requires holding for longer than the hold which the server interprets.
So this change should not avoid going back to the server menu on the
player.

However it was added for user feedback - so please keep adding it
here...

Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] SB3 press and hold left

2008-05-11 Thread peterw

You can easily get to the top level with Now Playing or Browse + a short
Left. Holding Left is likely to drop users to the setup screen. So why
would we ever try to map arrow_left.hold (or power.hold or
brightness.hold) to anything?

Thanks,

Peter

2008-05-11 Thread Phil Meyer
Ah, okay. However, I don't see the need for it. The only different compared
to a single press of Now Playing key is that it takes longer, but doesn't
change the now playing display if you are already on now playing screen. If
you are already on now playing screen, a press and hold of left-arrow will move
to the main menu and then back into now playing.

Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] SB3 press and hold left

2008-05-14 Thread Philip Meyer

I also notice that single pressing left-arrow 5 times quickly causes the
same action as press-and-hold left-arrow.

So, when I'm browsing deep into menus and click left a few times to go
back, occasionally I end up in the now playing screen.
