Does anyone know what the number of Artists on the bottom left of the GUI, and in library statistics, means? It bears no relationship to anything I can calculate. According to filters I created in foobar2000 for my flac tags I have 624 Composers, 386 Conductors, 658 Album Artists (some of whom are Conductors), 2165 Artists (some of whom are Conductors and/or Album Artists), and 526 bands (some of whom are Album Artists or Artists as well). LMS says I have 1909 artists, which is nonsense. It may be some number which ignores LMS TrackArtists, but what it includes I really don't know. I assume it should be the number of unique names who are Album Artists, Artists or Track Artists, possibly plus other tags, but I really don't know. I know it's trivial, but because it always on display it irks somewhat. LMS 7.9 on VortexBox Midi, Xubuntu 14.04, FLACs 16-24 bit, 44.1-192kbps. LMS plugin UPnP/DLNA Bridge to MF M1 CLiC (to MF amp ESLs) Marantz CR603 UPnP renderers. Minimserver (server) upplay (control point) to same to upmpdcli/mpd PC renderers. Squeezelite to Meridian USB Explorer DAC to speakers/phones. Wireless Xubuntu 15.04 laptop with firefox/upplay or Android 'phone with Squeeze-Commander/BubbleUPnP controls LMS/Minimserver. Have a Touch with EDO, plus spare, but unused. SInce the introduction of 'Additional Browse Modes' in 7.9 I have been using the LMS menus more than I used to (I depended on Custom Browse menus for many menus). However, the Artist (and All Artist) menus seem to omit TrackArtists. I have many tracks (flacs) with one or more Artist tags, but these tracks always also have AlbumArtist tags. All myArtist Tags therefore get converted by LMS to TrackArtist tags (I have checked in library.db that this is true, and if I show details of an album in LMS it lists such Artists as TrackArtists). Is this behaviour as expected? Is there really no menu in LMS 7.9 that shows TrackArtists? Or have I misunderstood (again) the purpose of TrackArtists? I have also long noticed that where the GUI display the number of Artists at bottom left of the default GUI (and in the Library Statistics on the Information page) the count excludes all TrackArtists. check your tags especially artist sort artistsort and albumartist sort albumartistsort . Is he under D as in Dylan , when you have found and album and a track you can check the tags via LMS own web-UI and see what LMS have scanned . LMS uses the tags for sorting and displaying . It's enough that one file with Bob Dylan does , could be a compilation or anything ,then all Bob Dylan gets sorted that way...
