[Bf-committers] GSOC 2014 Proposal Rough Draft
Hello BFCommitters, I have completed my rough draft for the GSOC 2014 Proposal to create an Improved Vector Blur Node. It is hosted on my website, so you can find it here: http://people.oregonstate.edu/~voigte/gsoc_2014.pdf Any and all feedback would be wonderful. I haven't done anything like this before, both in the huge scale of the Blender Project and in the long time-line, so I'm completely open to any suggestions. [Bf-committers] Possible Proposals for GSOC 2014
Hello Blender Committers, I really want to contribute to Blender this GSOC, so between times of studying for the end of term at University I am attempting to put together a proposal. My question to everyone here is which is more pressing/ which would be a better task for a first-year, extremely passionate and hard working, computer science student this Google Summer of Code: Improved Vector Blur Node Improved Solidify Modifier These both come from the 'Ideas' page and jumped out at me, however if anybody here thinks there is something more pressing then I am open to new ideas. I am very passionate about Blender and want to help in any way I can and would love to participate in GSOC with blender this year. Re: [Bf-committers] gsoc 14
greeshma, In response to one of your final points sent to the bfcommitters mailing list, I personally believe that Blender should never become a paid product. It was for a few years and since going completely open-source has becoming a shining beacon in the FOSS community as to the potential of what free software can be. It isn't yet as powerful as the Autodesk Products, but is quite impressive unto itself and is quickly catching up. [Bf-committers] Prospective GSoC student (Elijah Voigt)
Hello Blender Foundation Committers, I am currently looking into applying to Blender for the Google Summer of Code and would love some advice to improve my Application. I have been using Blender since I was 12 years of age, I am currently 18 and in my first year attending Oregon State University studying Computer Science. I have used Blender for personal projects, taught it at my school, and have loved it very much. Until recently I have not had the means nor the a reason to delve into the code for Blender, but have always wanted to. I have not contributed to the project yet but am interested in doing so. I recently forked the code successfully got it to compile after following the tutorial on the wiki. I have also looked at the 'Ideas' page for GSOC and am interested in working with Modifiers (Specifically the Solidify idea) or the Game Engine, because I have little experience in that area and want to learn more. I have some experience with both C/C++ as well as Python, so contributing to this project would require me to learn some new tools but not any new languages. I have looked at the issues page for ways to help but have not yet been able to contribute code. Blender has affected my life greatly and I want to contribute to the project. Any pre-application advice you could give me would be wonderful.
