Thanks for the suggestion, Christiaan. It pointed me in the direction of a
deep, dark, impenetrable forest with a hint of light at the far side :-}

I tried a few “standard” .bst files (like abbrv.bst and one of Nelson Beebe’s
“author date” .sty files). The first worked as expected, with no errors, and a
proper cross reference in the bibliography. The second had the same issue that
I did (the extraneous “}" at the end of the cite key).

It’s clearly not BibDesk, so I will wander off into the woods now.

Cheers,

Justin

The control is called an NSComboBox, describe how auto completion fails for
you, how it works for you, and how you expect it to work.

Ditto.

Any particular information we should include in the bug report?

Yea, I also noticed that for a while. Unfortunately we are not the one doing
the completion (we only supply the list). So this is a system bug. Because off
that there is not much we can do about that. I don’t remember with which OS
version this was introduced, but it was already a while back.

I will file a bug report with Apple. you may also do so, to make the bug more
urgent top Apple.

[Bibdesk-users] Auto-completion when adding new fields not working properly

2019-04-11 Thread Luc Bourhis via Bibdesk-users
Hi,

When using the menu Publication > Add Field…, and start typing the field I want
to add, the auto-completion does not quite work as it should I think. The first
character typed triggers a completion but then it does not adjust on the
subsequent typed characters. I often find myself to add Crossref for example,
and I always get Chapter filled in that field. Please watch the movie here

 if it is not clear.

Best wishes,

Luc J Bourhis
