[Ontbirds] American White Pelicans - Kelly Lake, Sudbury

2013-06-01 Thread David Scott
At 12:30 pm today, there were nine American White Pelicans at the north end of
Kelly Lake in Sudbury. They are most easily viewed from the Southview Drive
bridge, between Kelly and Robinson Lakes. From Highway 17, turn north onto
Southview (southwest of Sudbury) and drive approximately 2 km to the bridge.
Good birding,
David Scott

[Ontbirds] Prothonotary Warbler - Ottawa

2013-06-01 Thread Gillian - Sympatico
A Prothonotary Warbler was banded this morning at Innis Point Bird Observatory.
It flew west after being released. Innis Point Bird Observatory is on DND
property and gated but it could be worthwhile to check along Riddell Drive or
March Valley Road.

Directions: Exit the 417 and take the March Road until Dunrobin Road. Turn
right at Dunrobin Road and then right again at Riddell Drive. March Valley
Road is around 1.5 km down Riddell.

Cheers,

Gillian Shields

2013-06-01 Thread diane brunet
Hi,

I just came back from a short visit in the Larose Forest and heard at least
4 Whip-poor-wills at the corner of Road# 10 Indian Creek
Road/Clarence-Cambridge Road.

Directions to the Larose Forest - North of the Village of Limoges:

From Ottawa: Take 417E to Limoges (Exit 79). Go North on Limoges Road (Hwy
5). Go through the village, pass the sharp right hand curve and go straight
at the flashing yellow light; this road become Indian Creek Road. Go pass
Cambridge Estate housing project, after the little bridge you will be on
gravel road. Stay on this road until you reach Road#10 on your left.
