[Ontbirds] Snowy owl, Oakville on the QEW
Noticed a snowy owl flying onto a street lamp on the south side of the QEW. It was in a parking lot (of what, I don't know) a few hundred meters west of exit 111. If you need a landmark, the Ford factory's an exit or so east of exit 111. I observed it while driving. ___ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization. [Ontbirds] 2 'Bewick's' Tundra Swans at Shrewsbury, SW Ontario
So I found the second apparent Bewick's Swan which appears to be a leucistic individual. So bizarre. See eBird checklists for photos. Unfortunately the typical looking Bewick's was at a further distance and not cooperating very well for great photos. http://ebird.org/ebird/view/checklist?subID=S27365624 http://ebird.org/ebird/view/checklist?subID=S27365425 Thanks to Reuven Martin, Blake Mann and John Lamey for finding and refinding these very cool birds. Directions: Shrewsbury is on the shore of Rondeau Bay between Erieau and Rondeau. See earlier posts for details as well.
