Official Counter:Sean Jenniskens

Observers:Jim McCoy, Michael Williamson

Visitors:
A few visitors today, including a man from Alabama visiting family in Ann
Arbor.

Weather:
Moderate north and northwesterly winds for most of the day, though they
switched to light out of the west around mid-afternoon. A great sky for
counting - lots of cloud and blue.

Raptor Observations:
A good flight today with 106 birds being counted. Biggest flight was of
Red-tails with 49. Other highlights include 9 Bald Eagles, 7 Northern
Harriers, 12 Red-shoulders, 2 Roughies, a Golden Eagle and 3 relatively
late Peregrines. One of the Roughies (adult female light morph) provided
excellent views right over the tower, as she was circling back and taking
her time crossing to the west.

Non-raptor Observations:
At least 2 Muskrats were very active below the tower today. 4 Common Loons
and 2 Double-crested Cormorants were observed high-flying in a southerly
direction. In addition, 13 Sandhill Cranes (5;1;7) were observed migrating
fairly high as well. Despite being so late in the season, approximately
1000 American Crows migrated by the tower today. 107 American Goldfinches
were counted as well. As the count neared its end, a Winter Wren was in
constant song.

Predictions:
Moderate southwest winds.
