[Ontbirds]Snowy Egret - Long Point

2005-06-05 Thread LPBO Coordinator
A Snowy Egret, assumed to be the same bird from two days ago, flew over
the Old Cut Field Station this morning at 0545. It was originally
spotted in the same location that it was a few days ago then proceeded
to fly west down the point.

Old Cut Field Station is located on Old Cut Blvd. at the end of Hwy #
59, at the base of Long Point.

[Ontbirds]Black-necked Stilts at Townsend

2004-05-19 Thread LPBO Coordinator
Doug McRae and Bruce DiLabio just called to say that the Black-necked Stilts
found earlier today at the Townsend lagoons were there up until 11:30 this
morning when they got up and flew off to the east. They watched them until
they were out of sight. The Eared Grebe was still present.

KIRTLAND'S WARBLER @ LONG POINT

2003-05-16 Thread LPBO Coordinator
It's been a very productive week at long point for songbird migration
although things are still about a week behind.
The major highlight being a Male Kirtland's Warbler which showed up at
one of our Remote Field Stations a few days ago. The bird was viewed
very well by a volunteer and a BSC staff member for about an hour and a
half, after which the bird made its way west down the point and was not
seen again.

It has been a whacky year for Summer Tanagers with three being seen this
May at the Tip this spring, two of which were banded. The first one was
banded on the 8th of May and was retrapped on 11th of May at Haldimand
Bird Observatory.

On the 12th of May at the Shorebird ponds at BSC a number of
Short-billed Dowitchers were accompanied by a single Long-billed.
