Happy New Year all, I've observed this Eagle now several times since the beginning of December 2018. It's favoured location is on the east side of the Trent River between lock 7 & 6 in Frankford just north of Trenton. The damn is keeping the majority of the river open water so obviously good fishing habitat. [Ontbirds] White Pelicans Holiday Beach Amherstburg
Hello birders, Over the last 2 days we've had 11 W/Pelicans fly in and land in Big Creek marsh just north of the Hawk tower for HBMO. Not rare but definitely unusual. Directions: Holiday Beach Conservation area is in between Amherstburg and Harrow Ontario. From hwy 20 take county rd 50 south to the Conservation area (there is a fee to enter) follow the signs to the Hawk tower. The Wood Stork was seen high above us on the trolley road near the halfway point. Bird was circling above us and headed in no particular direction. Should be staying around hopefully. Hello birders, I had a very brief look at a fairly fast moving Raptor flying SSW over the Sparrow field this morning at roughly 9:45am. Not a positive ID but it had all the right characteristics of a Mississippi Kite. Best err on the side of caution but keep an eye open along the lake shore areas ! Hello birders, The rufous morph Owl was seen today just north of Schuster trail on the west side of Tilden trail. It was hard to see as it stayed quite close to the trunk of its favorite tree. It was about 40 to 50 feet up and on the left side. Hello birders, I didn't see the bird but it was reported yesterday April 27th at 9:37am. It was seen in the gravel parking lot by the visitors ctr. The sighting was verified by Sarah Rupert. Last reported flying off to the Woodland trail, hope it hangs around for a while. It would be a lifer for me and I'm sure for many!
