lookout 3 trail as the bird is right there.

[Ontbirds] Lark sparrow Toronto islands

Juvenile lark sparrow found by myself and Adam caparelli at ward's island 
toronto island same location as recent nelsons sparriw sighting, during the TOC 
walk. Seen by all. Very ratty plummage but prominent white on the ends of the 
outter tail feathers when in flight.

Toronto island can be accessed by frequent ferries.

[Ontbirds] CHARITY BIG DAY OF BIRDING 2017

Hi birders and naturalists alike!

THIS Sunday 10th September 2017 brings you Ontario Charitable Big Day of 
Birding! This event has the aim of raising money Wildlife Preservation Canada, 
specifically the Loggerhead recovery project.


On the day teams of up to 4 people will bird anywhere in Ontario, with the aim 
of seeing/hearing as many different species of birds as possible within an 12 
hour period (8am to 8pm).  You can bird as little or as much as you'd like. 
Each team will donate $50 dollars to the cause as an entry fee.


The winning team will be the team that see's the most bird species and in the 
event of a tie break heard birds will be subtracted from your total. The 
winning team will receive the grand prize of a guided tour around Algonquin 
Park complements of Lev 
Frid
 an expert field naturalist and Algonquin specialist, as well as this great 
prize you will able to donate 25% of overall donations to your charity of 
choice. The 2nd place team will receive some original wildlife prints courtesy 
of Tim 
Arthur
 @ Tim Arthur 
Photography
 and 3rd place will receive some Wildlife Preservation Canada goodies.


On the day we will also be holding a photography competition entry for this 
will be $5 a photograph or 5 entries for $20, we have a $50 Henry's gift card 
to be won, any photo goes whether it be nature, scenery or just a fun group 
photo.  Anybody can take part in this part of the event but the photos have to 
be taken on the 10th September, voting will commence after all entries are in 
post event.

So far we have some big talking teams from regions and clubs all over Ontario, 
hoping they will come out the other side victorious. This is going to be a fun 
day, a chance promote your region, club and Ontario birding and to raise some 
money for a very worthwhile cause.

[Ontbirds] Buff breasted sandpiper Essex sewage lagoon east

At 3.30pm I had a buff breasted sandpiper in cell 1 at essex sewage lagoon 
(eastern).  Bird was flighty with 4 other shorebirds and wasn't being seen when 
I left.

[Ontbirds] Juvenile yellow crowned night heron at st. Jacob

The bird is still here and showing well feeding in the water across the river 
about 300 metres past (west of) the rail bridge. It's viewable from a lookout 
where there is a bench down close to the river.  This is 30 meters past the 
"Tree of Life" plaque.

west perth 11.48am. First lagoon.

I just found a marbled godwit at tollgate ponds with Dave Pryor. We are unsure 
if it is the same one as Windermere it took off at 8.56am and flew towards 
Windermere.

Continuing bird, seen from bowen road park and lookout from @5:30pm, initially 
sat on green buoy #5. Then flew north down river, relocated sat fishing on the 
river, until flushed by a boat and headed further north down river not 
relocated.
