First of all, our Peregrines are brooding now, but I haven't yet been
able to determine how many eggs. We are looking at a mid-May hatching.

South of our airport, on Earl Armstrong Rd, there was a pair of
Eastern Bluebirds near the former railroad tracks. There were a few
Song Sparrows nearby, too.

Just a quick note to let you know our Falcons are finally nesting. I
saw our new female in brooding mode this afternoon. The very late date
maybe due to immaturity.

For any more news, please contact me privately.

[Ontbirds] Ottawa Falcons brooding!

2004-04-16 Thread Eve Ticknor
I saw Horizon brooding this afternoon! As I wasn't downtown for the past
few days, I cant be sure, but I think she has only been brooding fulltime
for a day or 2. I'll try to determine how many eggs over this weekend.

The nest site is the southeast corner of the Crowne Plaza Hotel maintenance
ledge, just under the penthouse, and in front of the first column. This is
the same location of the nest 2 years ago!

Cheers, Eve

Ottawa Falcons!

2003-04-11 Thread eve ticknor
This afternoon I was able to confirm that our resident peregrine falcons are
brooding 2, and possibly 3 eggs!! They are on the northwest side of the
Crowne Plaza Hotel. This is their (and our) 7th season. I anticipate
hatching around the middle of May, and commencing the falcon watch around
the middle of June.

The Crowne Plaza Hotel is on Lyon St, between Queen and Albert Sts, west of
Bank St in downtown Ottawa. Anyone needing more specifics can email me
privately.

Cheers, Eve
