[Blackbelly] Saws
We have used reciprocating saws to cut up cattle...should work on sheep. Works well when the carcass is hanging. It could take two hands because they are a little more bulky than the smaller saws...but that might not be too bad because it's hard to cut a fiber off if all ten are on the tool you're using. Curtis FYI: I used the bulk feeder after all. They go through more feed, as I'm just start and have been told the animals tend to do that when that type of feeding is first implemented. No dead sheep yet (fingers crossed). I always enjoy the posts...a lot of interesting things I wouldn't get to read otherwise. ___ This message is from the Blackbelly mailing list Visit the list's homepage at %http://www.blackbellysheep.info
Re: [Blackbelly] Ages~How old can they live to?
Jules, We lost our 16 yr old Am. Blackbelly ewe last December. It was sad but she left us with a beautiful daughter that she had at age 15!! We were amazed as we took the old ewe as a favor, thinking she would just die. She didn't...for a couple of years. We had so much fun with her...she was an alpha ewe and had been bottle raised so was very tame. Juliette is now expecting...so old Julie lives on in her offspring. Don't have any experience with elderly rams cause my orig ram broke a leg at age 4 and others have been sold as youngsters. [Blackbelly] Ages~How old can they live to?
I was curious as to how old a Black Belly Barbados can be expected to live to? (Taking into account they have lived a healthy life~good feed etc.) Mine all free range and have access to good alfalfa periodically with a sweet lix mineral block etc. Do rams typically outlive ewes?
