Re: [Blackbelly] Ewe with running nose
I have a ewe that has had a dirty face for several weeks. Did not think a lot of it intil a few days ago when I caught her and discovered that it is from her nose running. I gave her a shot of Baytril, and I thought it cleared up, but now it is worse than ever. We are going to try to look up there with a speculum. I think it may be a thistle seed, but I have no real good idea. She seems to be OK just in misery with a runny nose. She is nursing/weaning 2 lambs also. Anyone with any similar experience? Her eyes seem fine. Cecil in OKla ___ This message is from the Blackbelly mailing list Visit the list's homepage at %http://www.blackbellysheep.info

Cecil never had anything so bad . We have thistle and sometime we see one shaking her head but nothing like this! Sounds agrivating and painful for the poor girl. Re: [Blackbelly] Ewe with running nose
I had one a few weeks ago. Running clear and green mucous. Pretty thick stuff. She had it for a good two weeks. In her case, I thought it might be because I had just started feeding her peanuts in the shell, and she might have gotten some mold, or been allergic to them. In any case, I stopped feeding them and kept an eye on her and three weeks later, she's dried up. None of my other animals get this from peanuts, so it might be a cold. But also, none of my other animals had cold symptoms. -Michael, Perino Ranch Blackbellies.
