Re: bbconfig questions

Ciprian,

thanks a lot for your information! Together with the trick from Chuck in
the forum I've been able to get my mouse doing what **I** wanted to do
:-}. Actually I'm using a Logitech trackball, and turning the ball 10
times to reach the other end of the screen is a hassle. But now I can use
it like in the W2K environment - smooth as silk.

However, I have to be honest: it took a while to figure out how to set the command.
xset m 6 10 was the final solution, after trying xset m accel_mult=6 thr=10 ... still
learning
by doing ;-}

This Blackbox desktop is really something smokin' - the perfect environment for my
'old'
300 MHz laptop.

starting blackbox

2003-02-02 Thread jens g.r. benthien --//-- designer
Hi Blackbox community,

I'm new to Linux - started just 4 weeks ago installing it on one of my machines.
Discoverd
Blackbox just by coincident on the SuSE Linux site and installed it, because KDE was
kind of
slow and used too much CPU time.

I didn't know how to start blackbox, so I tried -> startx blackbox and it worked.
However,
when exiting blackbox, I receive a bunch of error messages:

failed to open catalog, using default messages
BScreen::BScreen: managing screen 0 using visual 0x23, depth 24
failed to open catalog, using default messages
BImageControl::~BImageControl: pixmap cache - releasing 200 pixmaps

waiting for X server to shut down

Mutex destroy failure: Device or resource busy
kdeinit: Fatal IO error: client killed
kdeinit: sending SIGHUP to children
kdeinit: sending SIGTERM to children
kdeinit: Exit.

$ (prompt)

This is the 'best case scenario'. If I used the blackbox session for an hour or
longer, using
many apps, I can wait forever...

What I don't understand is the kdeinit stuff - I don't run kde or does it run
somewhere in
the background?

Oh, and when I run gkrellm in blackbox, the system hangs on exit. In kde it works just
fine,
but as I said: too much overload with that GUI.

Any other command to start blackbox failes. The weird thing is that I can start
windowmanager with 'startx windowmanager', but this gui exits flawlessly.

Any hint will be appreciated.

Thanks a lot,
