[BLFS Trac] #2070: Port 902 is used by VMware Server
#2070: Port 902 is used by VMware Server +--- Reporter: [EMAIL PROTECTED] | Owner: blfs-book@linuxfromscratch.org Type: defect | Status: new Priority: normal | Milestone: 6.2 Component: BOOK| Version: SVN Severity: normal |Keywords: +--- SAMBA instructions tell the user to use port 902 for a SSL tunnel to SWAT. However, VMware Server (now free as in beer) already uses this port by default. Please resolve this conflict or say that it is going to be ignored. -- Ticket URL: http://wiki.linuxfromscratch.org/blfs/ticket/2070 BLFS Trac http://wiki.linuxfromscratch.org/blfs Beyond Linux From Scratch -- http://linuxfromscratch.org/mailman/listinfo/blfs-book FAQ: http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/blfs/faq.html Unsubscribe: See the above information page

#2070: Port 902 is used by VMware Server +--- Reporter: [EMAIL PROTECTED] |Owner: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Type: defect | Status: new Priority: normal |Milestone: 6.2 Component: BOOK| Version: SVN Severity: normal | Resolution: Keywords: | +--- Changes (by [EMAIL PROTECTED]): * owner: blfs-book@linuxfromscratch.org = [EMAIL PROTECTED] Comment: Not sure what being free, or beer, has to do with anything, but port 902 probably shouldn't be used by Samba (SWAT), or VMWare as it is already spoken for in the IANA database. So, since the SWAT docs say to use 901 (but it also says which port doesn't matter as long as it is 1024), and it is spoken for, I suggest we move the tunneled SWAT to 904/905 as these ports are not currently used, or reserved. However, do note that because VMWare is using a port they probably shouldn't be is not why this is changing. I suggest it be documented as being changed because to use ports not currently reserved in the IANA database. -- Ticket URL: http://wiki.linuxfromscratch.org/blfs/ticket/2070 BLFS Trac http://wiki.linuxfromscratch.org/blfs Beyond Linux From Scratch -- http://linuxfromscratch.org/mailman/listinfo/blfs-book FAQ: http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/blfs/faq.html Unsubscribe: See the above information page
