[Blind-Computing] Winamp library
I've just downloaded the latest version of Winamp. Somehow I seem not to have downloaded and installed the library. Is that possible, or wouldn't it be a natural part of the program? What now? Re: [Blind-Computing] Creating Folder Sounds
Mark, and others, I followed those directions and I already have that set up. I was hoping I would get a list of sounds to choose from. Can you give me specific directions about that, and how I could transfer one to my in-box? Are there sounds when you send a message if you want one? Or when you delete? I hate to be so honest, but if you told me to go to the control pannel I wouldn't know how to get there. Rick, A blind friend told me that she clicked on the link "about us" and was able to create a radio station herself. Hi Mark, It looks like the SoundPad editor maybe open source, in which case it is free, but as the documentation states is quite old. If you are interested in it, I will take it for a spin this weekend and see what happens. [Blind-Computing] Problem on AVG download page
Hi list, I don't think I've posted on this list before but feel you may be able to help with this one. I was looking for the download link for the free version of AVG antivirus. I found the right page at the following site www.free.grisoft.com then into the Download page. When cursoring around the area of the relevant links deciding which one to enter on, Jaws suddenly crashed and the computer started its swirling or whirring noise, whichever. This has now happened twice today in almost exactly the same spot on the page. Had to press and hold in the off switch to shut down. The computer rebooted ok so no permanent damage. I'm using Windows XP, SP2 and the latest version of Jaws 8.0. If anyone could cast some light on this I'd be grateful. BTW, I've been using AVG for a few years now but was trying to locate the place to help a mate of mine who wants to download it. TIA David No virus found in this outgoing message. Re: [Blind-Computing] Creating Folder Sounds
I've given this some thought and here's the deal as I see it at least. This will work only if outlook has an option that you can add to your existing rules that instructs outlook to stop processing more rules like outlook express. If it does and I believe it should do the following. Modify all of your existing rules adding the command telling each of them to stop processing more rules. Next add a sixth rule since you already have five directing outlook to play a sound for all messages. In other words this will in effect tell outlook to play a sound for all messages that fail the previous five steps. I couldn't write this earlier because I was going out when I first got your post this morning. Let me know if this works, and like I said I've done such things with outlook express before so it should work for you as well. Hi Richard, I don't have it installed currently. A few years ago I tried a sample copy and found it very jaws friendly. I didn't have the cash to buy it at the time and I don't know if it had any line in or microphone options. If it did that would be wonderful. God bless, Mark God loves you! Re: [Blind-Computing] Creating Folder Sounds
Donnie, If all you need to do is play a sound when incoming messages have arrived (in Outlook Express): With Outlook Express running, and while looking at a message list, Click Tools, Click Options, Shift-tab once to General, Tab four times to "Play sound when new messages arrive", Press space to check, Tab or shift-tab to the Okay button, Press Enter. This sets it up so that a particular sound will play when any new messages arrive into your in-box. Hope this helps. Hey Ricque, Yes. When I go to Outlook it automatically goes to my inbox. I keep my computer on all day. I am at home alone all day long. I was hoping to be able to hear a sound when I get an email in my inbox, so I would know to go to the computer and see what it is. I get so many emails each day, if I don't stay on top of them, they get out of hand really quickly. Hi Mark, You can download the script from JawsLite home page at: http://www.jfwlite.com/programs.html I am also using Jaws 8 and the GoldWave scripts for version 5. I am using GoldWave version 5.18. The scripts are downloaded as a zip file which has to be unzip to the Jaws 8 your user name, such as : c:\Documents and Settings\User name\Application Data\Freedom Scientific\Jaws\8.0\Settings\Enu Let me know when you get the scripts and I will try to help you after that. Re: [Blind-Computing] Creating Folder Sounds
Hi Donnie, Am I understanding you correctly, you wish to have individual sounds applied to specific e-mails that come into the, In-Box? In other words, if you have 5 different people's messages coming into the In-Box, you want a sound for each person's message. Richard Justice www.blind-computing.com - Original Message - From: "Donnie Parrett" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "Blind-Computing" Sent: Saturday, June 30, 2007 2:32 PM Subject: [Blind-Computing] Creating Folder Sounds I have 5 folders in Outlook 2000 that I have created a sound for, when an email arrives in that folder. These folders receive emails from various groups that I am a member of. Before the individual folder sounds would work, I had to go into my control panel and turn off the sound for my inbox. I still have a variety of odd and end emails come into my inbox. The various emails that continue to come into my inbox does not have a sound to be played when they arrive. Re: [Blind-Computing] Transferring Cassette To PC Question
Hmm, I think Sound Forge is easy to use in terms of keyboard usage than Goldwave. For example, with Goldwave you cannot use the standard Windows selection keys to select parts of an audio file while you can in Sound Forge, meaning you can't seem to do accurate editing in Goldwave like you can with Sound Forge. Any thoughtson this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! On Fri, 29 Jun 2007 22:28:55 -0400, "Steve Boodram" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> said: > Hi, is gold wave easier to use than sound Forge. Re: [Blind-Computing] [Blind-Computing A Web Site]C Question
Hi Richard, I'm so glad you are working on that site to see if you can navigate it. www.pandora.com If anyone has sighted help, ask them to help you create a station using one of your favorite artists, or a particular band. You will be amazed at how they keep to that particular style. Also, the first time you hear your favorite artist on there, have your friend do a thumbs-up on that artist, and you will hear more of him or her. You can create up to 100 stations. One problem I have though is that when I pull the site up it goes to the most recent station created and I don't know how to get to the others. Re: [Blind-Computing] a simple image capture program
Hi, I don't know if OmniPage 15 will work for you. I currently use it with my Canon F30 and the software that came with it to scan images works with the Jaws cursor. You can check OmniPage to see if it will do the job for you at: http://www.nuance.com/ It is expensive though. Hi Mark, It is an older sound editor, and I haven't had a chance to look at it yet to even know if it is accessible with Jaws. so far, I haven't seen anything in The documentation that makes any reference to line-in recording Do you have this program installed? If not, let me know, and I can look into it further. Re: [Blind-Computing] Transferring Cassette To PC Question
Hi Steve, I can't say for sure, since I don't have Sound Forge, but from what I understand, Sound Forge is a higher level audio editor compared to GoldWave. I was wondering if there are any additional features in Gold Wave that Sound Forge does not have. Can you or anyone say for sure? Re: [Blind-Computing] Scheduler Thread podcast and rss aggregators
Linda, By default, the paid for version of AVG will run a full virus scan every day, on my pc it runs at 8 am every day. It may be slight overkill to run it every day, but since I tend not to be using my pc at that time of day, I'm not really bothered. Also, there's an argument that says it's better to be safe than sorry. Cheers. I don't know if it's AVG that's doing this or some other program in windows, but every day it says it is going to run a scheduler thread which takes about 54 minutes to run. It seems that it usually doesn't interfere with what I'm doing, but I'm thinking running this every day is a little excessive. I don't even know what it's looking for. Does anyone have any idea where this is originating from and how to stop or at least minimize the times it does it? Thanks. [Blind-Computing] Excel Formulas
Can anybody on this list tell me how formulas in Excel are evaluated? Here's what I'm driving at, when one cell has a formula and that formula includes a cell also with a formula: Is the embedded cell/formula evaluated and that value placed in the new cell/formula or does the new cell include the formula from the included cell? For example, if A1=3 and B1=4 and C1=(A1 * B1) and D1=(C1 * 3)does D1 actually wind up being D1=(A1 * B1) * 3)? If this is the case what are the limits of this repetitious formula parsing? Thanks!
