Hi
If you are using out look express, the fastest way to empty the deleted
items folder is as follows.
First do an alt F.
Next right arrow twice.
then down arrow until you hear empty deleted items folder.
Press enter and follow the prompts.

2007-08-08 Thread Martina Letochová
That only deletes mails in Outlook Express but not on Gmail's webmail. I
think there is currently no other way besides checking every single message.
There should be a select all messages checkbox in addition to the separate
checkboxes.

Confused? Yeah, I hear you on that one.
I haven't had a chance to check the site yet,
but just going on the information available to me right now,
I can't say either way whether your computer is infected.
I can tell you this though, the files located on the pen drive can be
deleted, since the drive

Something here doesn't exactly sinc with me.
Do you have the url where you got this information?
Have you scanned this particular drive for infection?
Have you queried a reputable security site, such as Symantec, or McAfee
 etc?
Just from reading what you have posted here, this looks like a back-door
 approach to getting you to
 buy, or download some software.
If this were reputable information, chances are that, there would be no
 mis-spellings, and
 composition would be much better.
Performing a Google search on something like this yields many results,
 that aren't relevant to the
particular situation, even if it sounds that way.
Did this particular drive come with any type of software installed?
I would be suspicious of the autorun.inf file
since I don't know what commands it contains, and I don't know what the
 UcHelp.exe file is.
I've seen the recycler folder before, and the desktop.ini file,
but the file was located outside the folder.
I notice in this information, the .ini file is located inside the recycler
 folder
If it were me, I would do some more research on this before I downloaded
 and installed any software,
or removed any files from the system hard drive.
Until you are sure of exactly what to do, based on information from a
 reputable source,
simply unplug the USB drive, and don't use it until you know exactly how
 to proceed.
This is interesting, if you have any of the information that I asked
about, could you post it to the
 list?

 Hi Chris ,
I did a Google search on recycler and found the following .
Recycler is a virus which spreads through our Pen drive.
I am pasting the info , below:

The virus drops the following files into the flash drive (thumb drive or
 usb
 drive)
 List of 3 items
 . autorun.inf
 . RECYCLER\desktop.ini
 . UcHelp.exe
 list end
The easiest way to remove the virus is to format the USB drive. However if
the computer has contacted the virus, then you may have to use the
 procedure
outlined below to remove it. If not, it will start spreading to other USB
drive that is plug into the infected computer.

To remove the trojan, you need to download PSKILL utility, see below.

 pskill -t explorer.exe
 attrib -s -h c: \ windows \ system32 \ AceExt32.dll
 attrib -s -h c: \ windows \ Downloaded Program Files \ Ext32.dat
 attrib -s -h c: \ windows \ Downloaded Program Files \ Ext32.dll

 del c: \ windows \ Downloaded Program Files \ Ext32.dll
 del c: \ windows \ Downloaded Program Files \ CxUSBKey.exe
 del c: \ windows \ Downloaded Program Files \ ZipExt32.dll
 start explorer.exe
 reg delete HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows \

 reg delete HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT \ CLSID \
 {35CEC8A3-2BE6-11D2-8773-92E220524150} / f

Remove Uchelp.exe on the flash drive (thumb drive):
 List of 2 items

 . Del Uchelp.exe
 list end

[Blind-Computing] Antivirus and Gmail

2007-08-08 Thread Chris Hallsworth
Hi all,
I use AVG Free as my antivirus, and I retrieve my Gmail e-mails through Outlook
Express. I seem to have a few doubts on security. It appears that by default
the E-mail scanner built into AVG Free is not checking for viruses for both
incoming and outgoing messages, even though the component is active. Should I
be really concerned, or am I just paranoid? What are your opinions please? I'd
love to hear from you. Thanks!

While you are inside your trash do a control a to high-light everything
then hit the delete key everything should go away.
That doesn't sound right because checkboxes would have to be checked first
and messages are being selected not blocks of text.

not only that but even though you use pop access, you still have to empty

I think so.
While you are inside your trash do a control a to high-light
 everything
then hit the delete key everything should go away.

Re: [Blind-Computing] gmail emtpy trash folder

2007-08-08 Thread Chris Hallsworth
This is because, I think, Gmail can be accessed with Pop only, and/or not
Imap. If it was Imap, then I guess everything would be synchronized,
including messages you've sent to the trash. Hope I'm making sense.

not only that but even though you use pop access, you still have to empty
the trash folder in gmail itself.

Guys, I think we need to report this to the Google team, what do you
 think?
I mean, what's the point in switching to standard view just to clear our
trashes and what not? I know the majority of us use Pop, but not
 everybody
does, so this is why I'm bringing this suggestion to the list. I look

[Blind-Computing] Computer Woes

2007-08-08 Thread Patricia
Hi List,

My fiance's computer after moving here at my house will not boot-up.
Everything seems to be hooked up correctly, but no windows on the monitor.
He uses xp pro, with jaws 8 and deck talk and that talked briefly then went
crazy.
Nothing else is hooked up to the machine save the monitor,
dec-talk-portable.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

Looking to get it up and running so he can get an new email account and all
that stuff.

Thanks,

Patricia

[Blind-Computing] Opinion on Gmail

2007-08-08 Thread Chris Hallsworth
Hi all,
No, I'm not asking for your opinions on Gmail, smiles, as the subject line may
say, but I'm rather asking what you think of the following statement: a small
number of blind computer users use Gmail. Is this really true, or is this
person clearly doesn't know much about us blind computer users. I'm not
criticizing him/her or anything, but it would be interesting to find out what
your views on the above statement are. Yes, we might be a minority, but as far
I can see many posters, including posters on these lists, tend to have a Gmail
address in any of the message headers. I'd love to hear your comments, positive
or negative, on this please. Thanks!

Thanks for the help, however, the inbox shows instead of the send/receive

send/receive dialogue box automatically, but this clearly can't be done,
both from what I can see and what you all can. Thanks though for all the

Under tools, options look for the check box that says send and receive on
startup. A couple further along is a box that says check for new messages
every. Tab one more time to an edit field and type in a number. The
