Re: [Blind-Computing] gmail emtpy trash folder
That only deletes mails in Outlook Express but not on Gmail's webmail. I think there is currently no other way besides checking every single message. There should be a select all messages checkbox in addition to the separate checkboxes. Confused? Yeah, I hear you on that one. I haven't had a chance to check the site yet, but just going on the information available to me right now, I can't say either way whether your computer is infected. I can tell you this though, the files located on the pen drive can be deleted, since the drive didn't come with any preloaded software. Do you have the url where you got this information? Have you scanned this particular drive for infection? Have you queried a reputable security site, such as Symantec, or McAfee etc? Just from reading what you have posted here, this looks like a back-door approach to getting you to buy, or download some software. If this were reputable information, chances are that, there would be no mis-spellings, and composition would be much better. Performing a Google search on something like this yields many results, that aren't relevant to the particular situation, even if it sounds that way. Did this particular drive come with any type of software installed? I would be suspicious of the autorun.inf file since I don't know what commands it contains, and I don't know what the UcHelp.exe file is. I've seen the recycler folder before, and the desktop.ini file, but the file was located outside the folder. I notice in this information, the .ini file is located inside the recycler folder If it were me, I would do some more research on this before I downloaded and installed any software, or removed any files from the system hard drive. Until you are sure of exactly what to do, based on information from a reputable source, simply unplug the USB drive, and don't use it until you know exactly how to proceed. This is interesting, if you have any of the information that I asked about, could you post it to the list? [Blind-Computing] Antivirus and Gmail
Hi all, I use AVG Free as my antivirus, and I retrieve my Gmail e-mails through Outlook Express. I seem to have a few doubts on security. It appears that by default the E-mail scanner built into AVG Free is not checking for viruses for both incoming and outgoing messages, even though the component is active. Should I be really concerned, or am I just paranoid? What are your opinions please? I'd love to hear from you. Thanks! Hi all. I am just wondering. I am looking for a simple to use program that is jaws friendly of korce. I am using Jaws 7.0 and I want to capture the audio from the following web sight. http://www.radioryedale.co.uk/story_new_layout.asp?StoryId=1253 There is a listen link on there and I want to click on that and ricord the audio as it is playing and then convert it to mp3 format. I have tried using the program switch to do this since there is a program on there to do that but I haven't gotten the hang of it. [Blind-Computing] Computer Woes
Hi List, My fiance's computer after moving here at my house will not boot-up. Everything seems to be hooked up correctly, but no windows on the monitor. He uses xp pro, with jaws 8 and deck talk and that talked briefly then went crazy. Nothing else is hooked up to the machine save the monitor, dec-talk-portable. Does anyone have any suggestions? Looking to get it up and running so he can get an new email account and all that stuff. [Blind-Computing] Opinion on Gmail
Hi all, No, I'm not asking for your opinions on Gmail, smiles, as the subject line may say, but I'm rather asking what you think of the following statement: a small number of blind computer users use Gmail. Is this really true, or is this person clearly doesn't know much about us blind computer users. I'm not criticizing him/her or anything, but it would be interesting to find out what your views on the above statement are. Yes, we might be a minority, but as far I can see many posters, including posters on these lists, tend to have a Gmail address in any of the message headers. I'd love to hear your comments, positive or negative, on this please. Thanks! I've checked and don't see such an option either. Sorry and btw still can't figure out how to delete the trash folder in gmail itself even in standard view but that's another thread sorry. I don't think this is possible, so may have to end this thread shortly. I just thought that like Outlook it was possible to pop up the send/receive dialogue box automatically, but this clearly can't be done, both from what I can see and what you all can.
