[Blind-Computing] Email Test

2007-12-06 Thread Donnie Parrett
I have created a folder for this group with sound. I am just sending this
email to see if I have
done it correctly. There is no need for anyone to reply. This email will do
the trick.

Thanks,
Donnie

  Subject: [Blind-Computing] Adobe Reader 8.1

   Hey Guys Gals,

A friend of mine asked me to post the following question.

: Fw: Adobe Reader version 8.1

   8.1

just wanted to know if anybody on the blind computing list has mentioned
   problems with version 8.1
of Adobe reader? My version 8 works beautifully
but when I updated, it wouldn't open pdf files. I finally got angry and
   uninstalled the whole thing
and reinstalled the 8 version without any updates.
I wonder if anyone has told Adobe support about this problem with the
   latest update?

Re: [Blind-Computing] Screen Saver Password

2007-12-06 Thread Nimer Jaber
Actually, I believe your screen saver password is the very same as
your user account password. I think that to change the password for
the screen saver, you may have to actually go in and change the user
account password. I will do more research and get back to you though.
Thanks

Re: [Blind-Computing] networking computers

2007-12-06 Thread DoubleLegal
Thank you all for your help.

It turned out it was a problem with how I had my AVG firewall configured.
The computers are now talking to each other! Makes it much easier to get
files from one to the other. In the past I had to Email each file to myself
and save them from my Email.

Thanks again for your help.

OK, look at the basics first. Make sure file and printer sharing are
turned on in each of the two computers. Then go to each folder you want
to share and make sure that sharing is turned on for that particular
folder. Temporarily disable the firewalls on both computers. Go into My
network places on each computer and see if the folder(s) that you have
set up to share are shown. If all is well enable the firewallls again.
Do not worry about the firewall on the router as that is for your WAN
which has nothing to do with your LAN.

 Subject: [Blind-Computing] networking computers

 Hi everybody,

I'm having a lot of trouble networking 2 computers through a router.

I've gone through and run the Windows Network Setup Wizard, but my 2
computers still aren't talking to each other and I can't use the printer
 or file sharing.

I have Windows XP Pro on both and am using JAWS 8. My router is a
 Linksys.

My firewall is AVG, the full paid suite version on one, and the free AVG
7.5 and AVG Anti Rootkit on the other.

Both computers are connected to the router and the router is connected
 to the cable modem.

I've been trying to figure this out for months and just can't get it.

Any ideas would really be appreciated.

 Thanks.

[Blind-Computing] Wireless Internet Trouble

My laptop computer has a Lynksis wireless internet card that picks up signal

try to connect to the signal that the router is sending out. The error message

be the cause of this

There is a check box in the display settings for the screen saver
password. If checked, it is the same as your user account password. If
not, then you will be prompted to create a password.

You can uninstalled AVG and reinstalled it back. By default upon finishing
the installation, dont you notice that you are prompt to choose either to
accept AVG to Scan your PC automatically or not. Where by default the dialog
box is checked , so if you choose not to make it scan automatically, then
unchecked the box. Hope this helps, like I did.
