Re: [Blind-Computing] Computer restarting
Does it on restart bring up the windows error dialogue where you'd possibly be able to find some minor bits of information? Alternatively, on the start menu, settings, control panel, administrative tools, event viewer, you can find the set of system events being logged including errors etc., and you'll just have to move down to system on the tree structure on the left, then tab across to the event listing on the right, then move up and down till you find an error event from around the right time, hit enter on it, and either tab around to get various bits of information, or hit alt + d to be taken to the description read only field. FWIW, while on the tree structure on the left, you can use the context menu to in fact clear the log initially, and then when the thing happens again, there'll be a lot less data in that list, and you can also use an option on the view menu to sort the events in descending order so that the newest ones will be at the top, plus I think there's an option to only display certain types of events, like errors etc. HTH Jacob Kruger Blind Biker Skype: BlindZA '...Fate had broken his body, but not his spirit...' - Original Message - From: Milos Przic [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: blind-computing@jaws-users.com Sent: Monday, September 22, 2008 2:52 AM Subject: [Blind-Computing] Computer restarting Hi all, It was happening to me before, more and more often, till it started happening every minute, so I had to reinstall windows. Chances are it's looking for the microsoft setup information (msi) file on the CD, so it probably needs you to also insert the installation CD as part of the process. Quite often those install packages will notice that you already have an installation and they'll offer a repair option - just not sure if that's specifically included in Office's installation, but anyway. Maybe that other idea regarding spyware is actually for real/better, but, otherwise, you could probably just do a re-install anyway, and hopefully it wouldn't dump any/too many of any settings within Word etc. Stay well Jacob Kruger Blind Biker Skype: BlindZA '...Fate had broken his body, but not his spirit...' - Original Message - From: Patricia Dunbar [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: blind-computing@jaws-users.com Sent: Saturday, September 20, 2008 10:39 PM Subject: Re: [Blind-Computing] Word Problems Well looks like I'm up a creek without a word. Re: [Blind-Computing] Transferring data from one laptop to another.
Thanks for the reply. Does this mean that I don't have to connect the computers together by a cable then? - Original Message - From: Jacob Kruger [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: blind-computing@jaws-users.com Sent: Sunday, September 21, 2008 8:16 PM Subject: Re: [Blind-Computing] Transferring data from one laptop to another. Start, programs, accessories, system tools, files and settings transfer wizard. Choose the option that it's the old computer, but then on the transfer method dialogue select the other option, which will allow you to supply a path on your external drive where it'll place a folder called USMT2.UNC. Then, when you run the wizard on your new computer, you can tell it it's the new one, and tell it where to look for that folder, and there you go. There are some other options like either files or settings, or both, and whether or not you want to try modify the listing it generates, but, initially, I'd just go for the both files and settings, since this will sort of include things like my documents, email messages, desktop layout, graphical options settings, etc. etc. HTH Jacob Kruger Blind Biker Skype: BlindZA '...Fate had broken his body, but not his spirit...' - Original Message - From: sue morgan [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: blind-computing@jaws-users.com Sent: Sunday, September 21, 2008 6:31 PM Subject: [Blind-Computing] Transferring data from one laptop to another. Hi. I'm replacing my laptop and I know that there's a backup utility in system tools which allows you to transfer everything from your old computer to a new one. Does this work well with Jaws and what type of cable do I need to connect the two laptops together in order to transfer the data? I've got everything backed up onto an external harddrive, but I'd like to try and transfer everything over onto my new machine if it's ok to do that. I'd be grateful on any comments on this, as I've not done this before. I have a Sony Vaio laptop at the moment and replacing it with another Sony machine with higher spec. Re: [Blind-Computing] .MP3 shows
Brian, This list isn't really appropriate for that sort of request. I'm trying to find a place where I can go to get the 60's and 70's classic TV comedy shows in the .MP3 format. I just want the audio of these shows, not the video. If you have any ideas you can E Mail me at: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Any help in directing me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated. [Blind-Computing] jaws question
Hello listers, I heard that jaws 7.0 was a very stable version of jaws to have. Would you all say that jaws 10 final release will surpass version 7 as far as stability goes?
