In the tree view, navigate to scheduling. Open that, navigate to scan whole
computer, and you should be able to set it from there.

Hi, everyone. How do I get AVG to scan only on Mondays? I got as far as
the advanced settings but don't know where to find scheduling and whatever
else has to be done. Any help with this would be very much appreciated.

Many thanks in advance.

P.S. I got as far as finding the user interface and going to the combo box
that says English but don't know what to do from there.

There are no user adjustable settings in APH Talking Clock, which uses
the
internal computer clock to keep time. Be sure the internal computer
clock

is correct by pressing Insert-F12. It sounds like it may not have
readjusted for Daylight Savings Time. Go to the Date and Time option on
the Control Panel, access the Time Zone page, and make sure that the
automatically adjust clock for daylight savings changes box is checked.
You can also reset the current time manually if neceassary. Once the
computer clock is corrected, APH Talking Clock should work fine.

Yep, Talking Desktop Clock 1.0 is free and as far as I'm concerned, is
superior to APH Clock. It has a JAWS-friendly user interface that
allows
you to adjust the voice and chime settings. You can choose from a
variety
of different voices and chime sounds and adjust the speech rate and
volume.
You can set the clock to announce the time at hourly, half-hourly
and/or
quarter-hourly intervals. Unlike APH Clock, it chimes only once at the
top
of the hour, which for me is a plus. And you can specify starting and
ending times for the time announcements, so you can suppress them
during
certain hours, like, say themiddle of the night when you're asleep.
Unfortunately, it has no alarm function. You can download it at:

Uhm, with all due respect, one does not need to obtain contracts or
anything

like that, especially since the PDA's you spoke of don't have that
capability.

You can't call someone using one of Freedom Scientifics' products, nor
with

Humanware's products.

So, even if you purchase a cell phone without any service, along with 200
or

299, depending on where you're from for Talks or Mobile Speaks, the price
still comes out cheaper, and you don't have to worry about having to send
it

into FS or Humanware for repair, since anyone who repairs cell phones can
repair the one you bought, whereas if you send out your specialty product
to

the corner store to get it repaired, guess what, you're out of luck.

Like I said in my original message, even if you purchase a cell phone,
with

or without an actual calling package, you're still paying a heck of a lot
less then you would if you bought a Pack Mate, or anything else along
those

lines.

I'm sorry if that irks you, but it's the truth.

Re: [Blind-Computing] PDA recommendations?

2009-03-11 Thread Victor
Uhm, with all due respect, one does not need to obtain contracts or anything
like that, especially since the PDA's you spoke of don't have that
capability.

You can't call someone using one of Freedom Scientifics' products, nor with
Humanware's products.

So, even if you purchase a cell phone without any service, along with 200 or
299, depending on where you're from for Talks or Mobile Speaks, the price
still comes out cheaper, and you don't have to worry about having to send it
into FS or Humanware for repair, since anyone who repairs cell phones can
repair the one you bought, whereas if you send out your specialty product to
the corner store to get it repaired, guess what, you're out of luck.

Like I said in my original message, even if you purchase a cell phone, with
or without an actual calling package, you're still paying a heck of a lot
less then you would if you bought a Pack Mate, or anything else along those
lines.

I'm sorry if that irks you, but it's the truth.

You can download it at:

an

which
did adjust automatically to Daylight Savings Time. I would assume
that
APH
Talking Clock has an internal calendar that is set to adjust the

which
was in effect when the program was released. Obviously, it has not

of different voices and chime sounds and adjust the speech rate and
volume.
You can set the clock to announce the time at hourly, half-hourly
and/or

quarter-hourly intervals. Unlike APH Clock, it chimes only once at the
top
of the hour, which for me is a plus. And you can specify starting and
ending times for the time announcements, so you can suppress them

certain hours, like, say themiddle of the night when you're asleep.
Unfortunately, it has no alarm function. You can download it at:

Wow, I guess I was wrong too. My copy of APH Talking Clock is also
an

hour
behind. It must have its own clock which is not synchronized with the
system
clock. I have another similar program called Talking Desktop Clock
which
did adjust automatically to Daylight Savings Time. I would assume
that
APH
Talking Clock has an internal calendar that is set to adjust the
clock

to
DST the first weekend in April, the original changeover date for DST
which
was in effect when the program was released. Obviously, it has not
been
updated since then. So wait a few weeks and the program will
probably

correct itself to DST. If you can't wait, either contact APH or use
Talking

Why pay thousands of dollars for such a specialized product when one can pay
half, or even a quarter of that amount and get the same thing in a cell
phone.

Because they don't require security deposits or stupid contracts with stupid
early termination penalty fees or monthly payments and/or watching how much
talk time you use, etc.

I don't think one needs to spend so much money for those specialty products,
particularly when cellphones combined with Talks or Mobile Speaks can do
exactly the same thing.

The fact is, any cell phone can do it, if equipped with Talks, which only
runs on Symbiant platforms, but, from what I hear, that is expanding to
include Windows mobile platforms also with the advent of version 4, and
Mobil Speaks, which runs on symbiant, windows mobile and pocket PC platform
cell phones.

One can read e-mail, surf the internet, do word processing and spreadsheets,
use them as MP3 players, and even use them as Wi-Fi modems and the like,
depending on the phone you get.

Why pay thousands of dollars for such a specialized product when one can pay
half, or even a quarter of that amount and get the same thing in a cell
phone.

Waste of money if you ask me, unless the state is paying for it, in which
case, heck, why not.

Just my two cents, and you probably want change from that too. Smile.

Re: [Blind-Computing] New version of NVDA

2009-03-11 Thread Gerald Levy

In the General Settings sub menu of the Preferences menu, make sure Save
Configuration on Exit box is checked, and then reset the check boxes in the
Keyboard Settings menu, if necessary. The two check boxes in Keyboard
Settings are the only options I could find for specifying how characters and
words are spoken.

Bring up the Preferences submenu (Insert-N) and select Keyboard

Tab to Speak Typed Characters and uncheck it. Tab to Speak All Words and
check it.

yes go with the one gerald has suggested. Snapshots are the ones still
being

Yep, Talking Desktop Clock 1.0 is free and as far as I'm concerned, is
superior to APH Clock. It has a JAWS-friendly user interface that
allows

you to adjust the voice and chime settings. You can choose from a
variety
of different voices and chime sounds and adjust the speech rate and
volume.
You can set the clock to announce the time at hourly, half-hourly and/or
quarter-hourly intervals. Unlike APH Clock, it chimes only once at the
top
of the hour, which for me is a plus. And you can specify starting and
ending times for the time announcements, so you can suppress them during
certain hours, like, say themiddle of the night when you're asleep.
Unfortunately, it has no alarm function. You can download it at:

Wow, I guess I was wrong too. My copy of APH Talking Clock is also an
hour

system
clock. I have another similar program called Talking Desktop Clock
which
did adjust automatically to Daylight Savings Time. I would assume
that

APH
Talking Clock has an internal calendar that is set to adjust the clock
to
DST the first weekend in April, the original changeover date for DST
which
was in effect when the program was released. Obviously, it has not

[Blind-Computing] the Schwans site and firefox

Hi, everyone. I can look at the products of the Schwans site on internet

Re: [Blind-Computing] aph clock

2009-03-11 Thread Rosemarie Chavarria
Hi, Geralld. Apparently the APH talking clock changes to daylight savings
time in the first weekend of April. I wish our government had left the time
change for the first weekend in April instead of March. I had to set my
computer clock manually because it didn't adjust with the new time change.

Wow, I guess I was wrong too. My copy of APH Talking Clock is also an
hour
behind. It must have its own clock which is not synchronized with the
system

clock. I have another similar program called Talking Desktop Clock which
did adjust automatically to Daylight Savings Time. I would assume that
APH

Talking Clock has an internal calendar that is set to adjust the clock to
DST the first weekend in April, the original changeover date for DST which
was in effect when the program was released. Obviously, it has not been
updated since then. So wait a few weeks and the program will probably
correct itself to DST. If you can't wait, either contact APH or use
Talking
Desktop Clock instead, which I prefer because it has adjustable settings
for

the voice and chime sound.

Hi, Steve. I got my friend to try the site too and it didn't work. I was
going to have him download the clock since he's having trouble with the APH

My copy of APH Talking Clock is also an
hour
behind. It must have its own clock which is not synchronized with the
system
clock. I have another similar program called Talking Desktop Clock
which
did adjust automatically to Daylight Savings Time. I would assume
that

APH
Talking Clock has an internal calendar that is set to adjust the clock
to
DST the first weekend in April, the original changeover date for DST
which
was in effect when the program was released. Obviously, it has not
been
updated since then. So wait a few weeks and the program will probably
correct itself to DST. If you can't wait, either contact APH or use
Talking
Desktop Clock instead, which I prefer because it has adjustable
settings
for
 the voice and chime sound.

The APH clock simply reads the system clock, it does not keep time on
it's

own.

Hi, everyone. I'm reposting this question because I realize I ran a
couple of words together. Anyway, a friend's APH talking clock is
running
an hour behind. I had him uninstall and reinstall it but it's still not
running correctly. Is there a way he can set it so it runs correctly?
Any help would be very much appreciated.

Many thanks in advance.

David,

Try the site below. Type "download" into the Find dialog, to locate the
download link, and press Shift-Enter on the one labeled "click to
download".

This should launch the File Download dialog.

Yep, Talking Desktop Clock 1.0 is free and as far as I'm concerned, is
superior to APH Clock. It has a JAWS-friendly user interface that allows
you to adjust the voice and chime settings.

My copy of APH Talking Clock is also an
hour
behind. It must have its own clock which is not synchronized with the
system
clock. I have another similar program called Talking Desktop Clock
which
did adjust automatically to Daylight Savings Time. I would assume that

The APH clock simply reads the system clock, it does not keep time on it's

I can't recommend a phone or PDA, but I just learned about a new service
from Independent Living Aids called Voice On the Go that lets you listen to
your email messages from your cell or landline phone and dictate replies

I have not tried it with nvda yet. I don't know if the key combination

If it's a site that nvda can navigate through it should work. maybe some

Hi, Mitch. I have NVDA installed because firefox won't work with the
version of Jaws I have which is 5.1. If webvisum works well with NVDA, I'd
just use it to solve captias.

I have jaws 7.10 and xp and it is working for me as well. I have been able
to solve a lot of captchas using this setup.. update to the latest firefox
version, as they had fixed an issue with jaws 7.10 where it should work
fine. when firefox 3 first came out it would crash when using 7.10 jaws
but

now that has beeen fixed in the latest two updates that came out.

Yep, Talking Desktop Clock 1.0 is free and as far as I'm concerned, is
superior to APH Clock. It has a JAWS-friendly user interface that allows
you to adjust the voice and chime settings. You can choose from a variety
of different voices and chime sounds and adjust the speech rate and
volume.

You can set the clock to announce the time at hourly, half-hourly and/or
quarter-hourly intervals. Unlike APH Clock, it chimes only once at the top
of the hour, which for me is a plus. And you can specify starting and
ending times for the time announcements, so you can suppress them during
certain hours, like, say themiddle of the night when you're asleep.
Unfortunately, it has no alarm function. You can download it at:

Wow, I guess I was wrong too. My copy of APH Talking Clock is also an
hour
behind. It must have its own clock which is not synchronized with the
system
clock. I have another similar program called Talking Desktop Clock
which

did adjust automatically to Daylight Savings Time. I would assume that
APH
Talking Clock has an internal calendar that is set to adjust the clock
to

DST the first weekend in April, the original changeover date for DST
which
was in effect when the program was released. Obviously, it has not been
updated since then. So wait a few weeks and the program will probably
correct itself to DST. If you can't wait, either contact APH or use
Talking
Desktop Clock instead, which I prefer because it has adjustable settings
for
 the voice and chime sound.

Re: [Blind-Computing] Using WebVisum, was: WebVisum invitation for the Firefox plug-in?

2009-03-11 Thread Chrissy
I have jaws 7.10 and xp and it is working for me as well. I have been able
to solve a lot of captchas using this setup.. update to the latest firefox
version, as they had fixed an issue with jaws 7.10 where it should work
fine. when firefox 3 first came out it would crash when using 7.10 jaws but
now that has beeen fixed in the latest two updates that came out.

regards,
chrissy
