Thanks a lot Gerald. It might still show up in the Control Pad, but I
know
it worked. This is because the annoying pop up that the computer kept
showing upon Shut Down is gone. The Revo Uninstaller must have removed
its
content which was some kind of virus. On Revo's list of programs it does
not show up. Thank God because I run my Restore about 3 or 4 different
times with different settings. I had a strong feeling that the program
was
the problem.

Rogelio,

Have you tried a third-party uninstaller utility like Revo Uninstaller to
remove this program? I use Revo all the time now instead of Control
Panel

Add/Remove Programs because it performs a more complete uninstallation.
Even if you can't remove E-Backup the normal way, Revo may do the trick
by

removing leftover traces. It's free and worth a try:

The program is E-Backup. The one showing in my Control Pad is version
1.42.
I can't download that particular version off the internet. Only the one
on
the Blind-Computing web site which is an older version. I tried to
install
that version and it wouldn't let me.

I'm not sure that an old version can prevent form downloading the same

What is this program. Just curious.

Good suggestions, John, and I have tried the cord in another USB port, as
well as connecting my device to another computer, on which it works. This
tells me I probably have some kind of USB issue, so I'm going to do one
more thing, which is to connect another USB device to the computer and see
if it works, then probably figure out what to do next. Perhaps uninstall
and reinstall USB drivers?

Hi Nancy,
Have you tried a different usb port on the off chance that it's the port
and

not the device that's giving you trouble?
Also, if you can disconnect the cord at the other end, try another usb
cord

and see what happens.

[Blind-Computing] Good News re: Windows 7!

2009-05-08 Thread Chris Hallsworth

Hello all!
After doing some hard work today for my studies, I decided to treat myself
by installing Windows 7 onto my F partition and keep Vista on the system
partition. It installed in I reckon less than half an hour, Narrator
struggled but managed to get me through the "Set Up Windows" wizard, and I
was able to install JAWS 9 fine. I did, unfortunately, experience loss of
speech when disabling all my sound effects from my sound card. All other
sounds played fine. A reboot fixed it though and all seems to be looking up
for Windows 7, on my machine anyway. So hope your Windows 7's going well,
and enjoy!

I'm not sure that an old version can prevent form downloading the same or
newer. If the program starts with windows, you can disable it using
msconfig

and try again.
What is this program. Just curious.

Have you tried having someone send you the file rather than

Will also just say that to just link the two computers with a normal
network cable, you'd need what we call a twisted pair cable, where wires 5
and 7 got swapped around between the two ends so that you then don't need
a router/hub inbetween them, but I'm pretty sure the network wizard would
still do the rest for you.

Hi Michael,
You didn't say which version of Windows you have on either computer,
but if it is XP, simply go to the control panel, and press enter on the
Network Setup Wizard.
When the wizard opens, it will walk you thru the steps.
Run the wizard on both computers.

Hi,
You can also rename the file and give it a .doc extention and Word will open
it that way.

Michael,
You need to start in MS Word.
Go to File, then Open
Under file types you may need to select .txt, or better yet, All files Then
find the folder where the file is and enter on it.

Highlight the .txt file in windows explorer and then use the "open with"

or

use the "open" option in the "file" menu within MSWord.
