Re: [Blind-Computing] strange jaws behavior

2009-05-20 Thread Jacob Kruger
What happens if you hit the windows key + M key combo?

That would generally take you to the desktop, unless jaws is trying to do
something like a remote machine access thing, but that would also depend on
your versions of jaws fwiw.

However, on my windows XP machines, I sometimes have to specifically hit
windows key + M for the desktop, or windows key + B for the system tray, or
just the windows key twice to access the start menu and then close it again,
before tabbing around until I know iI'm actually focused on my desktop since
I think 1 or 2 of the startup applications might sort of be taking focus,
but not in a 'real' window as such.

Stay well

Do you use RSS feeds? I am a heavy user of the IE feed reader, and I hear
the same message whenever I launch IE 7. I suspect that JAWS is reading the
traces of my previous feeds session. I'm not sure there's anything you can
  do about this behavior.

Yep, Solona is an image cattia solver that works with all web browsers. It
uses human operators to decode a captia and return it to the sender in text
that can be read by JAWS or other screen reader.

Once you've used it a few times you will likely discover that it's not
nearly as much of a pain to use as it seems to be at first. The steps
can be performed very quickly if you are not consulting the
instructions. Give the solution time, I think it's worth it. Personal
opinion.

2009-05-20 Thread Cliff Smales
My first reaction to your question is to ask if the archive folder is one
that came with your computer, or is it a folder of your own creation.

If the latter case it accurate, Highlight the message to be relocated. Press
Control-Shift V. You will be asked where you wish to relocate the folder.
Usually, first-letter navigation works for making the response.

Someone else on another list reported this problem, but received no
responses. Are you using Autosizer to insure that your windows are always
maximized? To make sure the problem isn't related to IE 8, try using Solona
with Firefox to see if the same problem occurs. If so, I suggest contacting
Solona's administrator, Bernard Maldonado for help. I have tried it myself
only once using IE 7, Autosizer and JAWS 9 and had no problem.

That's a nice thing about Solona. It's browser independent, platform

Re: [Blind-Computing] When I.E. 7 gets launched

2009-05-20 Thread Gerald Levy

Do you use RSS feeds? I am a heavy user of the IE feed reader, and I hear
the same message whenever I launch IE 7. I suspect that JAWS is reading the
traces of my previous feeds session. I'm not sure there's anything you can
do about this behavior.

When i.e. 7 gets launched I hear, as it's launching:
"feeds treeview feeds closed"
This is somewhat new behaviour. It doesn't adversely affect anything, but
is a bitof an annoyance while I'm

waiting for a page to load.
Any ideas why this is happening, and if there is a fix???

I did not know that Video Intercept issues have been removed in Vista.
Does this mean that a USB Portable version of Jaws will work on Vista
without Video Intercept having to be installed?

Ok I'll try a reinstall. Please note I'm using Vista so all JAWS video
intercept issues have been eliminated and instead mirror display drivers
are

used. Yes I study at Birmingham and live in Derbyshire.

Dear Chris

Have you tried to re-install the display driver anyway?
Alternatively try going back to a working drive image made before the
distortion problem ?
If neither of these work I fear that it maybe time for an engineer .
If it is out of warranty I do know a good computer repair man but he is
based in London . I know that you are in the UK but I seem to recall you
are in the Midlands somewhere?

It does sound like hardware but I would suggest re-installing the
display

driver first before sending it back.

Actually updating rather than re-installing may be the best course if
you

know the name of your graphics card perhaps from Device Manager or
Belarc
Advisor, and can go to the web site.
Unfortunately this will knock out your Video Intercept Manager with Jaws
so
a re-install here will also be necessary. I think NVDA can continue
working
irrespective of updates to a graphics driver.

Hope you can get it resolved.

Hello all,
I'm having a problem with my Compaq laptop running Vista Home Premium

latest updates. I've had reports of the screen looking garbled, i.e.,
displaying lines instead of actual graphics. Does anyone know if this
