Windows 7 calls this icon speakers: followed by the current volume in

IE YouTube window and press PageUp. If this window was muted, this will
unmute and greatly increase the volume.

Hi Jacob and Al,
Thank you for confirming that the link is working properly.
I uninstalled and reinstalled the Flash player on my computer and
still no change. I read that Java is also required on YouTube. So, I
am working on figuring out how to uninstall the JAVA. Then I can
reinstall it. The thing is I am required to be able to listen to audio
and watch video from my college web site. The college uses flash
player and java for these things. So, when my girlfriend sent the link
and it didn't play I was especially worried. In between here I tried
the link on my other laptop computer and found it is playing there.
So, I am puzzled. If reloading Java doesn't work I am out of ideas.

I know you got your answer, but Google can also handle conversions of just
about any type! Just type in the following into the search box:
convert 32.70 USD to GBP

The answer will be a level 2 heading (navigate to this quickly by pressing
'h' until you get to the answer), between the sponser results and the
search

results! In this case, the answer was:

32.70 U.S. dollars = 20.4387774 British pounds

Hi Chris, some time ago some on either blindtec or blind-computing

Thanks. If I am not clear please let me know.

Re: [Blind-Computing] How to Move to new scanning program

2009-12-29 Thread David Griffith
I am completely unfamiliar with these programs but if I was in your position
I would look for an option to display scanner driver or display scanner
properties in this program's settings. If this succeeds then the scanner
driver will appear before the scanning takes place and you can ensure that
duplex is set before the scan results are sent back to your OCR program. I
cannot guarantee that this will work but it works with other OCR programs
like Microsoft document Scanning to deliver duplex scanning. You could try
Microsoft Document scanning anyway with your scanner as the OCR is
excellent.

Hi
I am having troubles getting my vista home addition to switch to new

read iris 12. Some how in the process the computer decided that I only want
to use the OCR software in single sided scans. I have a scanner that scans
both sides of the paper at a time. I can do a double sided scan using the
software that came with the scanner but the OCR is terrible.
So, I decided to switch to Text Cloner Pro. The problem is that it is
only scanning one side of the page at a time also. It gives me a message
saying that it cannot find a particular read iris file. I removed read Iris
and so I wonder why it is looking for this file? How do I get Text cloner

 I appreciate any ideas.

Re: [Blind-Computing] How to Move to new scanning program

2009-12-29 Thread Mark

Hi
Actually, I am sorry to say that my results with Microsoft document
Scanning have been rather dismal. Perhaps it is because I am scanning
textbooks and there is a great deal of variation in the background behind
the print. Sometimes the print is over a graphic. So, it will take a rather
robust OCR program to sort it all out.

Thank you for the suggestion though.

God bless,
Mark

I am completely unfamiliar with these programs but if I was in your position
I would look for an option to display scanner driver or display scanner
properties in this program's settings. If this succeeds then the scanner
driver will appear before the scanning takes place and you can ensure that
duplex is set before the scan results are sent back to your OCR program. I
cannot guarantee that this will work but it works with other OCR programs
like Microsoft document Scanning to deliver duplex scanning. You could try
Microsoft Document scanning anyway with your scanner as the OCR is
excellent.

Subject: [Blind-Computing] How to Move to new scanning program

Hi
I am having troubles getting my vista home addition to switch to new
scanning/OCR software. I was using read iris 11 and decided to upgrade to
read iris 12.
How do I get Text cloner
pro to figure out that it can scan in double sided mode?
I appreciate any ideas.

Re: [Blind-Computing] Magic Jack

2009-12-29 Thread Yvonne Oliver

hello mark
i have an internet calls provider
they are called Vonage
and it costs me £7.99 a month
for this i get unlimited talk time in the UK with no need to hang up within
an hour and redial.

i also get 33 hours worth of talk time to 35 European countries a month
and no bill statements as it is all taken care of online.
i get an email once a month to tell me the transaction was successfully
carried out and that the amount for the month left my card.
here in the UK we have features like call waiting, 1471, anonymous call
rejection voice mail and a few other that i cant think of right now.
BT charge each month for these but with Vonage they come as standard with no
charge to use them
the only thing i would pay for is the diversion part if i have my calls
diverted to another number.

[Blind-Computing] running cron in Unix

2009-12-29 Thread Kevin Andrews
Hi all,

I have a virtual private server, and I'm currently running Debian 5.0 distro of
Linux. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I'm trying to run a cron job (simply for learning purposes at the moment).
Typing cron at the prompt, however, yields this message:
cron: can't lock /var/run/crond.pid, otherpid may be 1130: Resource temporarily
unavailable

If any of you are Linux administrators, I could really use your help. I attempt
to load a cron job by issuing the command: crontab
nameOfFileForCronInstructions.cron, where that name is replaced with the
name of the file containing the instructions for the Cron (like when and how
long it's supposed to run and all that good stuff), however it's not working at
the specified times, and I think the error I'm getting is the problem.

Thank you very much.

Re: [Blind-Computing] running cron in Unix

2009-12-29 Thread Bill Gallik

Kevin,

Have you read the cron manual page? Try this:

   man cron

There are a number of questions that arise from this very brief description
you offer. Honestly, it would be much better to speak to somebody over the
telephone because there are a series of Did you do . . .? Then you have to
do . . . scenarios.

If you are in the contiguous United States and send me your telephone number
with a best time to call I'll try helping you out. I'm not a Linux
administrator, but I was a professional Unix® Systems programmer for almost
20 years at Bell Labs; I have quite a lot of experience with cron jobs
because I used to set up and maintain such animals for some of the DB
administration I handled.

Re: [Blind-Computing] running cron in Unix

2009-12-29 Thread Bill Gallik

Oh yeah, Kevin,

I almost forgot, to set up a cron entry you need to use the crontab command.
Check that out by executing the command:

   man crontab

crontab -l: list the cron entries for user

crontab -d: delete user's cron entry

crontab: set ups an input session where you are required to type in the
desired entries

The best way to do this crontab stuff is to creat a flat (text) file with
the appropriate tab delimited fields, then you can do this:

crontab yourTextFile (the less than tells the shell to take
input from the listed file rather than from the standard input (keyboard)

I know you got your answer, but Google can also handle conversions of just
about any type! Just type in the following into the search box:
convert 32.70 USD to GBP

The answer will be a level 2 heading (navigate to this quickly by pressing
'h' until you get to the answer), between the sponser results and the
search

results! In this case, the answer was:

32.70 U.S. dollars = 20.4387774 British pounds

i am looking for a website or a program that will convert currency
i don't want one of these all singing and dancing websites or program

i want something very simple to use
for example converting dollars to UK sterling
i want to type in something like for example $32.70 and choose the

of currency to convert on this occasion it would be UK sterling
so i want to type $32.7o arrow down and enter UK sterling and the

is there something i can use for this?

$32.70 is in UK sterling?

hello mark
i have an internet calls provider
they are called Vonage
and it costs me £7.99 a month
for this i get unlimited talk time in the UK with no need to hang up within
an hour and redial.
i also get 33 hours worth of talk time to 35 European countries a month
and no bill statements as it is all taken care of online.
i get an email once a month to tell me the transaction was successfully
carried out and that the amount for the month left my card.
here in the UK we have features like call waiting, 1471, anonymous call
rejection voice mail and a few other that i cant think of right now.
BT charge each month for these but with Vonage they come as standard with no
charge to use them
the only thing i would pay for is the diversion part if i have my calls
diverted to another number.

great. However, occasionally there is a delay between what one says and what
the other person hears. Then if one is having a long conversation such as I
do with my girlfriend, it will eventually take a syllable that she says and
keep repeating it to me. On her end there is a clicking noise and it hangs
up on her. All though this is annoying I have had relatively good success

Microsoft Document scanning anyway with your scanner as the OCR is
excellent.

Hi
I am having troubles getting my vista home addition to switch to new
scanning/OCR software. I was using read iris 11 and decided to upgrade to
read iris 12.
How do I get Text cloner
pro to figure out that it can scan in double sided mode?
I appreciate any ideas.
