[Blind-Computing] Word Template for Standard Checks

2010-01-16 Thread Bill Gallik
Several years ago I had an MS-Office Tutorial from CrissCross Technologies and
one of the features addressed in the Word section discussed how to set up a
template for printing standard sized checks. Does anybody on this list have
such a template? If so, would you be willing to send it to me? Or, can anybody
offer suggestions as how to best design a template for printing standard sized
checks?

As I recall, the template was a form where you could fill in the pertinent
information (i.e., payee, date, amount, memo, etc.) and then, after adjusting
your printer paper feed and inserting in a blank check, that check would be
filled in by the printer with the information provided. I imagine the
document would need to be in Landscape mode so it could run through the
printer.

Any help would be appreciated.

P.S.
I do have the Talking Checkbook program and the Quickbooks style checks, but
these are excessively expensive and I'd like to be able to print out checks
from my alternate account.

Re: [Blind-Computing] Uninstalling Avast 4 Home Edition.

2010-01-16 Thread Mike Barbara
Hi Stanley,
If I remember correctly, I think I had to go into places like my name
folder on the C drive in documents settings to delete Avast folders
out of different folders there. I think you might also need to go into the
All Users folders folder as well as program files on the C drive. In
short Add/Remove leaves a lot of crap in various places on the computer that
you have to delete manually. It's finding where all the crap is hidden that
can be a pain in the posterior! Avast is also stored in folders by another
name that I don't recall, but hopefully someone does know and will post to
the list. Hope this helps. Take care.

Hey, thanks a lot for the additional info. Yes indeed, Revo is just super.
It does what Add/Remove Programs doesn't do and does a much better job of
it. Oh yeah, I remember using Add/Remove Programs to remove Avast from my
system, but after I restarted the computer Avast was still in the system
tray, which is what happened this time.

Re: [Blind-Computing] Question about deleting addresses when forwarding email

2010-01-16 Thread Mike Barbara
Hi Arianna,
Do the following after you pressed control + F to forward. With Outlook
Express XPSP3 Home if you go to the bottom / end of the list of Email
addresses, then arrow down to the subject line, press the end/1 key on the
number pad, then press the control, shift, + Home/7 keys to select from the
end of the subject line to the top of the page , and press delete, you
shouldn't hav any problems. Personally I use a program called Email
Stripper to clean up Emails. There are 2 direct download links below.

[Blind-Computing] Jaws 10 not reading correctly in Windows 7

2010-01-16 Thread mlwilliams2
Hello,

I received a lap top for Christmas that has Windows 7 on it. I'm still
trying to learn my way raround it but I have discovered the following
annoying behavior with Jaws 10 on the lap top:

In a word or text document, on the web or anywhere else, I can say line and
it reads. I can say word or nexgt word and it reads. But, when in pc
cursor, if I hit 6 for next character, it does not announce it. In fact, it
says nothing. I can hit 5 to see what it is on and it has indeed moved to
the next character and will speak it but not when I hit the 6. I hope this
makes sense. I have the window maximized, so that is not the problem. In
addition, is there any jaws help for using Windows 7? At the moment, I have
a huge hate going on for it and am seriously thinking of taking it in and
downgrading back to XP, with which I am much more comfortable.

I'm hoping it just a setting somewhere in Jaws that needs to be adjusted and
I suppose I could do a repair on Jaws, but I'd really like to see if I can
fix it without going to that extreme.

Thanks, Lynn W.
