[Blind-Computing] Help recording wav on vista

2010-01-30 Thread Elaine
Hi guys

does anyone know how to record wav sound from the computer on a vista machine?

I want to record computer sounds, or rather sound from my speakers but I cant
appear to locate the speakers to record from. the options I have is line in,
microphone and stereo microphone.

I have read that Microsoft deliberately hid certain sound card properties, but
cant appear to locate how to show all available devices.

the speakers are shown in the playback section but not in the recording one.

thanks in advance

Elaine

Right click the list in the recording page then click show disabled
devices. Select the sound card's equivalent to stereo mix, right click
and choose enable. Optionally you can then right click and choose show
disabled devices again to uncheck the option. Finally click ok.

Re: [Blind-Computing] ADJUSTING WINDOWS VISTA FOR BEST USE

2010-01-30 Thread David
Hello John;

I'm not sure, what problems your really having with vista, however, I would
assume, you're having a little problem navigating with vista.

you do have the choice,
of, the classic view, or the start menu view,
and, you would make the changes, in control panel, taskbar and start
properties.
however, if you use the start menu view, you do have the search feature,
which you can access, and type in, for example, control, you will see the
control panel, and hit enter.
or, type, computer,
again, it will be there, just press enter.

most of the settings you used with xp, will apply to vista.

Subject: [Blind-Computing] ADJUSTING WINDOWS VISTA FOR BEST USE

Hi everyone:
Recently, HP fixed my laptop but in the process, they fixed me but good. I
now have Vista instead of my good old reliable Windows XP Professional.
I'm trying to get through it but it's driving me a bit crazy.
Can someone help me with a list of settings that would, hopefully, make
Vista more like XP?

I remember a very nice list of adjustments someone put out for the XP system
and I made those changes with great success. What can I do, to put it
simply, to make Vista more blind friendly?

Hi Chris

thanks, I now have stereo mix in the list.

my only problem here seems to be I cant tell if it's muted. the button next
to the device just says the name, such as stereo mix.

any ideas how I can get jaws to announce the status?

guess I'll just have to try it out.

thanks

Elaine

Ooh I can't answer that one since I don't own one. Also, you can
purchase the Coby MP200G MP3 player from J and R Music and
Computing, but since you are wanting to play movies, that player
doesn't support that. It only plays MP3 and WMA files. Sorry I
couldn't help.

[Blind-Computing] making a continuous  album

2010-01-30 Thread DoubleLegal
Hi everyone,

Is there a program out there that is blind friendly that will allow me to
combine all the tracks from a "concert" cd that I ripped to my computer? I'd
like to be able to play the whole cd without breaks between each track. In
other words have one long track that I could still go forward and backwards in
the album, but have the whole album run
continuously.

Thanks,

Ken

Nero burning rom can do this. You must enter the properties for every track
in your project and remove the 2 ssecond gap and change it to 0.
