Re: [Blind-Computing] changing the sound card in winamp and windowsmedia player

2010-01-31 Thread Rick Justice
Hi David,
I'm not sure about Windows Media Player,
Here's how to do it in WinAmp.
I am using WinAmp 2.8, but the steps should be similar in later versions.
I will give you a quick run-thru, and you can experiment with the other
settings at your leisure.
1. Open WinAmp, and press Control+P for preferences.
2. This is a tree-view, so down arrow until you come to plug-ins,
and right arrow to open it, if it is closed.
3. Down arrow to Output, and again right arrow to open it if it is closed.
4. This will be a list of all of the output plug-ins currently installed in
WinAmp,
and this will vary from version to version, depending on the plug-ins that
are installed.
5. Down arrow and look for:
Crossfading DirectSound output v1.37[out_ds.dll]
If you don't have this one, you will need to select one from the list, and
follow the steps below, to find one that works with multiple devices.
6. Next, tab to the configure button, and spacebar that.
7. When this dialogue opens, tab until you come to the device combo-box, and
then use your up and down arrows to locate the device you want to use.
8. At this point, you can tab thru the available settings and make changes
and then tab to the okay button, and press enter, or simply press enter to
save your changes.
9. After pressing the enter key on the okay, you will be returned to the
configure button, so just tab until you come to the close button, and
spacebar that.
close WinAmp and then re-open it for the changes to take effect.
You are done

I wonder if GoldWave will do this? I use this now as my primary audio
editor. No longer use Total Recorder as I discovered something amazing
with the latest GoldWave; the ability to automatically download and
install the appropriate encoder. So no longer need Total Recorder to
save to MP3. Get your free trial, which limits you to a reasonably fair
amount of usage, from www.goldwave.com. Hope this helps.

Don't worry. The Coby MP200 is designed to work with Windows, not the Apple
OS. All you have to do to transfer MP3 files from your PC to the Coby is to
plug it into a USB port and use standard Windows Copy and Paste commands.
That's all there is to it.

Yes, if your recording is divided in tracks, you just place them in your
project and remove the 2 second pause for each track from its properties. Of
corce you choose audio cd from the nero burning rom startup dialogue for
your project.

Hope this helps and sorry for the delay.

Nero burning rom can do this. You must enter the properties for every

I am using JAWS 11. If I want to make a comment to what someone has said
on FaceBook, how do I do
it? I am also using the simplified version of FaceBook. I know that's
not exactly what it is

called, but I hope you will know what I mean.

Thanks,

This is true only if you use disposable AAA batteries. However, if you use
rechargeabel AAA batteries, your annual cost of operation for the Coby will
be less than $50.

Sansa models in the E series can be modified with the Rock Box open source
screen reader to make their menu options blind accessible. You can
purchase one of these modified units directly from Accessible Electronics:

What model of Sansa talks? It does have a screen, so how does this "
talking feature " make the player accessible ?

2010-01-31 Thread Lino and Louie

Candy,
It works with Windows and the Mac. When you first connect the player to
your USB port, the installer for the Coby Media Manager will run. You
don't have to use the software if you don't want to. You can simply copy
and past using Windows explorer. Also remember to turn off the player
once you are done putting files in it and disconnecting it from the USB
port. Nice little jazz ditty that comes with it on there. HTH.

operating systems. Does anyone know this answer?

Re: [Blind-Computing] making a continuous  album - Thanks for the info

2010-01-31 Thread DoubleLegal

Thank you very much for the information.

I have GoldWave so I tried that. It doesn't make a smooth transition between
the tracks, but for now it is close enough.

If I want to get into making it perfect or sound flawless between tracks, I
may jump into the Nero program.

Thanks again.

   Hi everyone,

Is there a program out there that is blind friendly that will allow me to
combine all the tracks from a "concert" cd that I ripped to my computer?
I'd like to be able to play the whole cd without breaks between each
track. In other words have one long track that I could still go forward
and backwards in the album, but have the whole album run

continuously.

Thanks,

Hi;

Does anyone know of a accessible driver utility?

I'm running Windows XP SP3

I find searching for drivers to be very time consuming and sometimes
cumbersome due to poorly designed web sites.
Thus I'm looking for a program to do the job for me.
I have tried a couple of driver search utilities, but all were
inaccessible.
