DCheck you have the latest video drivers. If so then do a repair on the
JAWS program including the video intercept.

Re: [Blind-Computing] copping programs to a external drive

2010-08-12 Thread Don Marang
I am not sure I understand exactly what you are attempting to do in your
situation. Are you wanting to make backups of essential CDs, such as
Windows XP? If so, I think you want a utility that will make an ISO file
copy of the CD. It will make an exact image of the CD into one container
file. It will even capture the boot information if the disk is bootable.
It will not directly let you look at individual files without a special
archive style program. It will also not work with most copy protected CDs,
such as games. An ISO file can be burnt back to a blank disk at any time or
some programs can be used to mount the file just as if you inserted the
disk.

There are many utilities to work with ISO files. My favorite is called ISO
Recorder. It provides simple wizard style dialogs to rip (copy from disk to
file) and burn (copy from file to disk). It will also work with DVD data
disks, which can contain 4.7 GB of storage, on Vista and Windows 7.

If your Internet streaming is constantly being interrupted, shut down
other downloads, restart the streaming application, and try again. If
conditions don't improve, try restarting the stream later on. If there's a
slowdown on the streaming server, the Internet, or your home network, your
audio or video will stutter or freeze until more data arrives. Broadband
is essential, at least for video streams. With a fast connection, you
should be able to view video at its highest resolution available.

Re: [Blind-Computing] MSE update failures

2010-08-12 Thread David

Hello there;

one way to check to see which update you have is to,

1, desktop,

2, MSE press enter,

3, now tab until you hear, home button,

4, right arrow one time you should hear,
update button,

5, now route jaws to pc, and read the information,
you should see/hear something like;

Microsoft Security Essentials
Computer status - Protected
Virus & spyware definitions status - Up to date
Microsoft Security Essentials updates your virus & spyware definitions
automatically to help protect your computer.

Definitions created on: 8/11/2010 at 5:25 AM
Virus definitions version: 1.87.1709.0 Update
Spyware definitions version: 1.87.1709.0
Did you know?
Virus & spyware definitions are files that Microsoft Security Essentials
uses to identify malicious or potentially unwanted software on your

computer.
These definitions are updated automatically. However, if for any reason your
computer's definitions don't get updated automatically, you

should get the latest updates to help protect your computer.

I hope this helps.
