Janie,
There is one other thing to consider. At the top of the google page,
there
is a button which reads, "Screen Reader users check here to turn off
Google
Instant." Apparently, there is a special feature on google which tends
to

confuse or completely disable screen readers. The next time you're there,
try that out.
In addition, wasn't there supposed to be a special Google page for those
using adaptive technology?
That was a couple of years ago so maybe it was replaced by the check box I
mentioned.

Hi, sorry for my late reply. I re-installed the printer using the CD and
still no luck. I eventually took the printer to have it checked and they
concurred that the printer was not working. So I bought another one and the
problem was solved.

Thanks for taking the time to offer help to me. It was most appreciated.

Did you load the software for this printer from a cd or did you go to the
HP website and download it? I had this happen with another HP printer.
What happened was that Windows had changed something in one of their
updates and the ccd looked like it installed but wouldn't work. I
downloaded the software, went through the install and it works perfect!
May just be the disk is out of date.

First, I'm not using Office 2007, but the end result should be the same.

I'd go to the Control Panel, Printers and faxes and see if that printer
is set as your default. While you're there, cancel any documents that are
waiting to be printed for that printer. Also check to see if that printer
is showing Ready.

When you are in Word and click on print, if you tab through those boxes,
you should be able to see if it is set to go to that printer.
If all that is true, we'll have to go on from there. The only time I've
had trouble with the test page continually printing, is when I first
installed my HP and after the test page printed, I forgot to click on the
OK button to say that it had printed correctly.

Hi gang;
could someone please offer some suggestion as to why I am having this

Both the power and USB cables are connected and I get the add device

to print a document in Word. I am using Office 2007 if that should

I want to believe that the power cord is not faulty since the printer

prevents this from happening?

2011-03-06 Thread Rick Justice

Hi John,
Google and Jaws seem to be an odd couple!
I am using IE8 and Jaws 6.2, on:
www.google.com
and have no problems with focus, edit boxes and buttons.
Also, I don't have Google as a home page, and don't use any of their
supposed accessibility features.

Now, if I switch to Jaws 11 or 12, their seems to be a problem.
The above mentioned is why I don't discard older versions of Jaws, the
latest isn't always the greatest.

Re: [Blind-Computing] DOUBLE MESSAGES IN MICROSOFT OUTLOOK

2011-03-06 Thread Rick Justice

Hi John,
The problem usually occurs
if the connection drops for some reason between your system and your ISP's
mail server,
or the connection is interrupted between your ISP's mail server, and the
mail server for the list mail you are subscribed to.
If this is happening on a regular basis, it is probably time to contact your
ISP,
I have found in the past, that the ISP will blame the problem on your
system, when in fact it is their mail server.

Michael,
I think I know what's tgoing on. Most external hard drives have built in
software which comes up immediately when you access the drive. It could
be
something as simple as a list of options or a password portal where you
have
to enter a certain string of characters to be allowed into the inner
sanctum

so to speak.
You can select a simple program like Notepad or Wordpad and allow the
program to make that kind of association. The worst that could happen
would

be that the displayed data couldn't be read.
I believe, although I can't think how right now, that you can go into the
Applications menu and reassociate certain files to be read by another
program. I had to do that with some programs that were coming up in
Microsoft Word Viewer instead of in Word itself.

Re: [Blind-Computing] Jaws refusing to read in Google

2011-03-06 Thread LaMcAs
I too have had problems with the web with Jaws choosing not to read anything
on the page yet I can see the content.

This is what I try
1. Insert+Esc to refresh Jaws
2. Close Jaws & restart
3. Copy the address Alt+d then Alt+c; Close IE then re-open it and Alt+d
then Alt+v to paste the address I was on
Usually one of the above works before I have to reboot my pc.

Using Jaws 12.xx and Windows 7 HP

Re: [Blind-Computing] Jaws refusing to read in Google

2011-03-06 Thread John Justice
Janie,
There is one other thing to consider. At the top of the google page, there
is a button which reads, "Screen Reader users check here to turn off Google
Instant." Apparently, there is a special feature on google which tends to
confuse or completely disable screen readers. The next time you're there,
try that out.
In addition, wasn't there supposed to be a special Google page for those
using adaptive technology?
That was a couple of years ago so maybe it was replaced by the check box I
mentioned.

land on this option. Now in this dialogue box tab to use current button and

hit the space bar. Once you do this tab to OK and hit enter. Now close
Internet Explorer and reopen it. Your home page should be the page you set.

I hope this helps.

Everything works normally.
2.
Jaws tells me there a are no Edit Boxes on the page, ditto buttons etc.
It does allow me to read the useless page though.

3.
It appears to jaws to be totally blank, although a sighted helper says it
looks normal.

combine this with the recurring problem of loss of focus and my sanity is
being challenged.

[Blind-Computing] anyone using the free screen reader called thunder?

2011-03-06 Thread Yvonne Oliver
Hello
Does anyone on here use the free screen reader called thunder?
If so then perhaps you can help me with 3 issues

1 when thunder is playing the sound is very quiet
Jaws on the other hand bellows through the speakers
How can I adjust the playback sound volume on thunder to that of jaws?

2 I am informed that eloquence can be used on thunder.
When I went to the voices only 1 was listed
This I think is anna or something like that.
Where can I find eliquense and how do I assign it to use on thunder?

3 I can't use the insert key with any of the f keys
I want to use insert f11 and insert f12
How do I assign these keys to use with thunder?
If anyone can help with these it would be very much appreciated
Thank you

Yvonne
