Re: [Blind-Computing] Formatting Flash Drives
This is a perplexing situation. You're right in that there should be n o difference whatsoever between the space available on 3 identical drives. -Original Message- From: Mike Barbara In Arcadia Sent: Friday, June 10, 2011 5:40 PM To: blind-computing@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [Blind-Computing] Formatting Flash Drives Hi Bill, I have scanned all the drives, all 3 are okay. Within the next couple weeks I will be getting a new computer. It will be an HP Pro, Windows 7, 64 bit machine. Could someone please give me the basics on what and how I need to set it up for maximum use with JAWS 12? Oh yeah, it will be coming with Office 2010. For the past 11 years I have been using a Compact Home, Windows XP with Office 2000, and currently running JAWS 11. I think I will be in for quite a few big changes. I'm hoping that you can teach an old dog some new tricks!!! Re: [Blind-Computing] A question about a Braille 'n Speakand flying
I used a Braille 'n Speak when I visited the USA a while back (about a year ago) and when I was on the aircraft I did a bit of work. There was a small audience and the people were intrigued about what the BS could do. However, I shut it down when we were touching down in Miami. At this point, I am looking for a machine which will work like the Braille Speak but will also be able to send and receive messages and work with other applications. Not a laptop computer. Any suggestions? - Original Message - From: Alan Dicey adi...@bellsouth.net To: blind-computing@jaws-users.com Sent: Saturday, June 11, 2011 11:11 AM Subject: [Blind-Computing] A question about a Braille 'n Speakand flying Dear Friends, I do not have a Braille 'n Speak, but a friend does and is worried about taking it on a airplane with her, getting it past Security I suppose with them perhaps damaging it. Re: [Blind-Computing] A question about a Braille 'n Speakand flying
Alan, I have taken a PAC Mate on numerous flights, and have not had a problem. All computers must be taken out of their cases and laid in a bin to go through the scanners, but that has never harmed my machine or the data. A couple of times T S A has pulled me aside to take a closer look at my machine, but I've never had problems getting through.
