[Blind-Computing] rss not working
Hello, I restored outlook 2010 profiles from a backup I had. This included rss. The funny thing is that I'm now not getting rss messages. Yes ... rss doesn't work again. Please, how can I go about restoring rss functionality? Confused, Anthony Tom Trinidad and Tobago, West Indies. [Blind-Computing] Using Adobe Reader to read PDF files
Several weeks ago some folks on this list were sending messages on how to get Adobe reader to read PDF files. There was something about going to preferences and then going to the general tab and unchecking so that something could be accessed. I did not save the messages and I hope someone can help me to set up the item in the control panel as I want to read some PDF files from the Enabling embosser site to read some manuals. Update your Eset signature files, though I assume you had done that , but doesn't hurt to mention it, then do a scan. I'd also download a free/trial copy of Malware Bytes and update its files and do another scan. If you haven't done a second software scan on your computer in a while, you might just fined something slinking around in there :). Not one virus protection software gets them all. That add-on works well. I've tried it and have had no problems using Webvisum or any other add-on that's not yet compatible with Firefox 5. Re: [Blind-Computing] Backing Up Files
Hi Julie, The instructions that I gave was for XP using the standard version of windows. Unfortunately, unless you have the pro version of XP, you cannot create a bootable disk. I did the backup on to my external hard drive. I am glad that you found this information useful since I posted it 2 years ago and I am embarrassed to say that I inadvertently send it to the list while I was trying to clean up my sent folder. If you still want the information to create a backup of the C drive on XP, I should still have that too. Windows 7 has its own backup for which I have not tried yet. I know that Image for Windows and Casper7 will work as a backup for windows7. David sorry for sending an old post. Re: [Blind-Computing] Using Adobe Reader to read PDF files
Hi Francis, the latest version is Adobe Reader X. You need to disable protected view first to get it to work well with Jaws. Do the following: 1. From either your desktop or start menu, press enter on Adobe. The Adobe window is now open, press control + K, to open preferences. Another way to get to preferences is after pressing enter on the Adobe shortcut, press Alt + E, for the edit menu, arrow up to preferences, & press enter. 3. When preferences opens you will be in a tree view and should be on the General page, if not arrow up or down until you have General highlighted. It is #4 of 29. Tab until you find a checkbox called enable protected mode at startup, uncheck it, choose yes on the warning you will get to continue. You need to look at 1 more setting so, tab until you have General highlighted again. 4. With General highlighted, press the letter I, until you have Internet highlighted. 5. Tab to, Display PDF in browser, if this box is checked press the spacebar to uncheck it. 6. Tab to the okay button, press enter to close preferences & save your changes, & press Alt + F4 to close Adobe. If I have missed something or if there is something that should be added, would someone please jump in & correct me?! Hope this helps. Take care.
