[Blind-Computing] E-mail announcement, problem solved

2011-09-12 Thread Allen Childs
I want to say thanks to David and all the others who helped resolve my
problem with Outlook 2003 and e-mail being announced after closing Outlook.
After trying a little bit of all things suggested, Outlook finally closes
completely and no longer announces e-mail while doing other tasks.
Again thanks to all of you.
Allen

[Blind-Computing] Fire Fox!

2011-09-12 Thread JOHN O CARVALHO

Hi Everyone,
I'm asking this question for a friend & myself.
We both are using X P, he's using jaws 12, & I'm using jaws 10.
Can someone let me know how does fire fox work with both versions of jaws?
Is it hard to use after using internet 7 or 8?

Re: [Blind-Computing] now, import the addressbook

2011-09-12 Thread David
Hello Karen;

If you have your CSVFile created;

Try the following;

1. Start Outlook 2010.

2. Choose the File menu.
You can do this by pressing alt+f.

3. Choose Open, and then click Import. The Import and Export Wizard opens.
To get to open, just down arrow until you hear open tab and press enter.
Now, down arrow and enter on import.

4. Choose Import from another program or file, and then press tab-key and
enter on Next.

5. Choose Comma Separated Values (Windows), and then tab and enter on Next.

6. Choose Browse, locate the CSVFile that you want to import, and then click
OK.

7. Choose Next press enter.

8. Choose Finish to import the CSVFile.

Okay, I've saved my outlook express addressbook as a csv file. Can I just
copy that to my flash drive and then what?

As I'd said, i didn't find an import or export button in outlook 2010. It
might be there but I'm not sure where to look. Thanks, Karen

Well, if you then invoke the context menu on the system tray icon, there
might in fact be an option to close outlook completely, but anyway.

Not sure either, but think it might also be something you can set in the

I would guess that instead of closing, outlook 2003 is sort of minimising to

the system tray, and then running in background, since it can sort of be
told to do that when closing it using alt + F4.

I think that exiting off the item on the file menu is meant to not make this

happen, but, you can in any case check system tray icons using jaws key +
F11 once you've closed it to make sure it's not running down there in system

tray.

I don't know if you have used the forms method in Kurzweil or not, but if
you have you know it is not very reliable, fixes are promissed for next

Hello Jerry,

If he created the forms in MS Word, or another word processor, ask him
to just email it to you as attachments and you could edit them, filling
it out, in the same program and email it back to him.

If you have to scan the hard copy, Kurzweil has a feature to scan a
form, which makes provision for the edit field, which you can fill out
in Kurzweil and either print, or email the completed form.

With another OCR program, you'd have to either directly scan into a word
document, or scan and save to which ever program you want to use,
complete the form and email or print it.

To all:

My father-in-law has some forms he created to list all of his family
members for a genealogy listing. How would I scan these into my
computer and have them saved so I could fill them out? Since there are
no genealogy software applications that work with JAWS, I have to get
creative, as we all do from time to time.

Thanks.

I'll have to dig a bit for the instructions to fix that and
hopefully they

Re: [Blind-Computing] Buying a printer

2011-09-12 Thread Van Der Walt Riana
You can also OCR the .tif fax file, received via a fax to email service,
these days freely available, with Omnipage, Finereader, Openbook or
Kurzweil.

With Kurzweil and I think some of the others, one can do this from
within windows explorer, by selecting the file and choosing the relevant
option via the applications menu.

Gerald,

Thanks, for small faxes this is a great option if what you
are faxing is on the computer already. Otherwise, I guess
you could scan and save the document in PDF format and then
go at it from that angle.

There is a free service called Faxzero that lets you send
faxes over the
Internet without the need for a fax modem or fax machine.
You simply visit
the Faxzero site, specify the file you want to fax along with
the fax phone
number of the recipient and some other information, and your
fax is sent
over the Internet.
