Rosemarie,

What file extension appears on the file that you are trying to read? .txt,

Hi, everyone,

A very strange thing is happening in wordpad. I have a file called list of
songs that I tried to open. When I hit enter on it, all I got was “w” and
nothing more. When I tried to down-arrow to see if I could read anything,
all I got was the windows dinging sound.

Any ideas as to what could be happening? Any help will be very much
appreciated.

Many thanks in advance.

Hello David. If you can get someone sighted to help you might want to try
running any one of those programs while the computer is in safe mode. If you
have done this already I apologize but hope it helps.

I've had good luck with malware bytes.
It can be found at http://www.malwarebytes.org/

But, I've never had this particular bit of nastiness. So I can't promise
anything.

Oh yes, malware bytes is very accessible and free.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the article. So far folks we've tried TDS killer spyware doctor
and of course MSE none of which seem to effect it at all. There's an animal
called Microsoft dart which shows a little promise but it's kind of hard to
track it down.

If worse comes to worse I'm going to pull the drive to put it on my bridge
and delete the partitions then create them again hopefully clean. I really
don't want to do that but desperate times call for such measures.
