[Blind-Computing] Chatting with Facebook friends

2012-01-19 Thread Duong Tuan Nam
Hello all,
1. Can we know someone in Facebook's friends list online or offline?

2. Have anyone tried chatting in Facebook with AIM? I read a document, it says
screen reader users can chat with Facebook friends using i.e AIM 7.2.
Thank you in advance,
Nam

No. sorry if I wrote the directions to imply that. Make a selection for
each notification icon. When you hit Tab and it has finished with all
the items it has a few buttons and checkboxes and cycles back to the OK
button. When you reach this activate it with Space or Enter to close
the dialog. You will then need to hit Tab a few times more to reach the
OK button for the Task bar Properties dialog. Use Space or Enter to
close that dialog.

You need to select which icons you want to show in the Notification Area.

 1. Press the Windows Key, followed by the Escape key. This places
 focus on the Start button.

 2. Press Alt + Enter to bring up the Taskbar Properties dialog.

 3. Hit Tab until you hear Notification Area. If there is a checkbox
for Always show all Notifications and icons on the Task bar uncheck it.

 4. Hit Tab again to get to the Customize button. Press Space to
 activate.

 5. Hit Tab to get to the list of Notification items. Each has a combo
box on the right side. Simply use the up and down arrows for the
different hide and show options. If you want it to always show up when
pressing JAWS + F11, select Show icon and notification.

 6. Press Tab to get to the next item. When done, continue to press Tab
to the OK button. Again, press Tab to the OK button.

Now the notifications should work as expected! Additionally, you should
not be bothered by notifications you do not want. Note, this does not
disable or stop them from working.

This is just driving me batty here. Why do those 6 items like to play
 hide
and seek all the time, some showing up others not?

I have to say...this is one case where XP is ruling over Win/7, never had
 these issues before.
I have been going to that notification on the task bar, then doing the
applications key to change it again and again...
I tried checking the box to show all notifications, I think that was not
 an
improvement. When I tab to the stuff already listed as being in the
sys-tray, when I like down arrow, then up arrow back to show up, I hear
 this
item is not active but will be when I reboot*well it doesn't say that
 reboot
part, I just know that's what I do to get them back in their list where
 they
 are to be.

Is this like one of those win/7 quirks?

 Trish

[Blind-Computing] Sharing Folders in Drop Box

2012-01-19 Thread Trish
I did the steps below, it didn't work, wonder why??

Do the following to put a folder with the name of this person you are
sharing the folder with in the Dropgbox folder.

1. Open the System Tray using the keystroke, Insert / Jaws key + F11.
2. Arrow down to the Dropbox entry press enter.
3. Press the letter O, to open the Dropbox folder.
4. Now, we need to create a new folder. Press Alt + F, for the file menu,
press the letter W, for folder, press the letter F, for new folder. You
are now in an edit field. Type in the name of the person that you are
sharing this folder with press enter, to close the edit field. You now
have a new folder in your Dropbox folder that you will use to share with the
other person.
5. While focused on the folder you have just created hit your applications
key and arrow to the Drop Box submenu.
6. Right arrow in there and hit enter on share this folder.
7. You will be taken to the Drop Box web page where you enter the email
address of the person or persons you want to share your new folder.
8. Hit the space bar on the share folder button and wait for the other
person to accept your invitation.
**did not do these steps**
a quick note. If yu do say put a file in the public folder and send the link
something strange may happen when someone goes to download it. Some
browsers, and this is directly from the drop box help, may just try to open
it. If this does occur just either add ?dl=1 at the end of address that is
on the clipboard or tell the person to do that before opening it.

Subject: [Blind-Computing] Sharing Folders in Drop Box

No. sorry if I wrote the directions to imply that.

I have also found that sometimes not all items appear in the system tray
 and
a reboot seems to bring them back, most annoying.

 Trish

I use Jaws 12 and Windows XP.
Can anybody advise me on a simple programme which would enable me to
shorten MP3 files?

I am not trying to edit them just take the top and bottom off.
Many Thanks Niamh
