2012-02-18 Thread julie
I am trying to set up an envelopelabels template (alt+e) and I get a message

correct this error. Not sure whether I go under view I had normal checked
instead of print lay out. Any help appreciated.

[Blind-Computing] Word and paragraphs

2012-02-18 Thread Brad Dunsé
Word 2010 and Jaws 13. When I hit a hard carriage return, it puts an
entire line between paragraphs which I don't want, and also Jaws does
not show the space when arrowing up and down through the document. Is
there a way to fix this? I've not set any paragraph settings or line
spacing or anything different than what was out of the box. I really
wish Microsoft would not impose these sort of assumptions. Thanks in
advance for any help you might have. I need to find a solution ASAP.

Re: [Blind-Computing] Word and paragraphs

2012-02-18 Thread Annette Carr
I'm not 100% that this will help you, but you might want to give it a try:

1. Tap ALT to move to the ribbon.
2. Navigate to the Home tab.
3. Press enter to open the home menu.
4. Press TAB until you get to Line and Paragraph spacing. This is around
30 plus presses of the TAB key. Of course there is a short cut, but I
believe in doing it manually first.
5. Press enter to open this menu and arrow down to something that says
options.
6. Tab until you get to a check box that talks about space between
paragraphs and check or uncheck it as needed.

Hopefully this will do the trick.

Hi Brad,

I just installed Office 2010 so, this is all new to me. See if the below
makes any sense to you.

To specify your own line spacing, type the spacing amount that you want in
the At box. For example, enter 1.25 for an extra quarter line of space
between
lines, or click the up or down arrow to increase or decrease the amount in
half-line increments. When you finish, click OK.
. Press one of the shortcut key combinations:
list of 4 items nesting level 1
Ctrl+l - Single-spacing
Ctrl+5 - 1.5-line spacing
Ctrl+2 - Double-spacing
Ctrl+0(zero) - Add or remove 12 points of space before a paragraph.
list end nesting level 1

Line Spacing in Word 2010
. Choose Paragraph... from the shortcut menu to open the Paragraph dialog
box. On the Indentation and Spacing tab, in the Line Spacing list box,
choose
one of the options:
list of 6 items nesting level 1
Single - Single-line spacing. (Line height automatically adjusts to
accommodate the size of the font and any graphics or formulas in a line.)
1.5 Lines - Line-and-one-half spacing (an extra half-line of space between
lines).
Double - Double-spacing (an extra full line of space between lines).
At Least - At least the spacing that you specify in the At box-the line
won't be shorter than what you specify, but it may be taller because Word
will add
extra spacing for tall characters, big graphics, and superscript or
subscript text.
Exactly - The exact spacing that you specify in the At box. All lines are
exactly the same height, regardless of the size of the characters in the
line;
Word doesn't add extra spacing. Note that some text may be cut off if enough
space is not available.
Multiple - Multiples of single-line spacing, such as triple (3) or quadruple
(4), as specified in the At box.

Hope this helped. Take care.

[Blind-Computing] problems with internet streaming

2012-02-18 Thread melissa tucker
Usually I use firefox and go to tunein.com to pull up stations I want
to listen too. However, after firefox updated something this morning, I can no
longer listen to tunein.com or any other internet radio site. I don't know
what's going on, and I wish I could figure out how to fix it. I also tried
listen to stations with RadioSure and tapinradio, but same results. I tried to
fix the problem by uninstalling and reinstalling adobe flash, since I kept
getting a message that it had crashed, but after reinstalling it, I still have
the same problem. I'm using nvda and windows xp. I've also tried this with
google chrome and internet explorer. I would appreciate any suggestions on
this problem.

Thanks for the help Mike and Annette. I'll give
it a go and see what my wife says is the result.
I'm fine with it not showing the gap in Jaws, but
there are times I might want to just drop a line
down without a paragraph gap in Word, maybe this wil settle it. Thanks.

2012-02-18 Thread Brad Dunsé
Well you are doing better than I am and I've had
2010 since July :). I am confused though. First
I'm not sure what an At box is or how to get to
it, secondly isn't CTRL L meant to left justify
the text? That has been a standard Word hot key,
and Jaws says that is what it is doing. What is
more confusing is either that hotkey combo
worked, or something else kicked in but it seems
to have fixed it. I didn't' ask my wife yet but
it use to take a couple delete key entries to
roll the text up from the previous paragraph, and
now a hard carriage return will pull back up with
just one delete key press like before. I'm scratchign my head.
