Re: [Blind-Computing] Converting from McAfee to MSE
Hi Brad, When it comes to security software, the end user can't prove that the software is doing what is says it does, you just have to trust that it is. So, with that in mind, why pay for something that you are not sure of. I have been using MSE since it came out on all of my systems, and it hasn't reported a problem yet, so according to it, my systems are clean of viruses and malware, and I can live with that. I'm certainly not going to spend the time trying other programs to prove it wrong or right, since I have these machines to work for me, not me for them. In the end, I guess it really comes down to a person's paranoia, and internet and e-mail habits. No one program out there will catch everything in the wild, and loading one's computer with security software isn't a guarantee that it won't become infected. I have been using computers for about 11 years, and only been infected twice, both of which I caused myself. My position is, install an anti-virus, and anti-spyware solution, keep it updated, run a full system scan on a regular basis, be mindful of your e-mail, and don't wander aimlessly on the internet, stick with reputable websites. Re: [Blind-Computing] Converting from McAfee to MSE
Rick, I hear what you are saying. I was thinking MSE in conjunction with a frequent Malware Bytes scan would work. I learned my lesson on only one method of protection when I ran just the Eset suite and manage to catch a virus that pretty much took out my aged computer. I've heard good things on MSE so I'm feeling pretty good about it but wanted to check here as some are obviously using it. Thanks. What happens when you try to open the attachment? What is your email program? When you say music attachment do you mean a mp3 file for listening, or something else for sheet music? [Blind-Computing] CONVERTING MP3 FILES TO STANDARD CD, WINDOWS 7
Recently, David sent me a tutorial for converting MP3 files for use in a CD player. His version was based on Windows XP and using the same process with Windows 7 presents some interesting challenges. I tried to follow the steps but it only goes so far and then seems to get stuck. 1.Insert blank disk in recording drive. 2. From the Autoplay menu, choose Burn files to disk using Windows Explorer. 3. Windows asks the question, What do you want to do with this disk? I chose create a CD or DVD. 4. Windows 7 now puts the cursor in a field which shows the current date, a default name for the disk which can be over-written. I highlighted the file and entered my own disk name. 5. I used a folder and copied and pasted the files into the field provided. 6. If you press Tab at this point, Windows 7 goes into naming the disk, the author, genre and so on. I entered the File menu by pressing Alt F and chose Burn Files to Disk, the acceleration character is T. 7. Then Windows 7 appears to bring you through a dialog where you can choose writing speed, disk type and so on. It finally ends with nothing. The system goes around and around without resolving the burn. I tried using the Jaws Cursor and navigated to the top of the page where Burn to Disk and Delete Temporary Files are shown. I got what sounded like a burn, but then the disk showed no files. I finally gave up, copied the files into a Play List on ITunes and burned them that way. What am I doing wrong? It seems like such a simple operation but apparently, with Windows 7, something else is needed. Any help would be most welcome.
