[Blind-Computing] Making Links Have a Different Voice In JAWS 14

2012-11-11 Thread Mark Torgerson
Hi

In JAWS 13 and earlier, I set my internet explorer jaws settings to
"Rent a Crowd". This caused the links on web pages to be read in a different
voice than the other text. In JAWS 14 when I switched it to rent a crowd,
the links sound the same as all the rest of the text. I tried to adjust
several of the more advanced settings under rent a crowd, but there is no
real change. What am I doing wrong, and how do I fix the problem?

 Any ideas are appreciated.

God bless,

Mark

Hi,

You can try BurnAware Free. Jaws cursor is needed to navigate
otherwise it is accessible. Here is the URL for it:

There is a fix for this on the Microsoft site, I can't remember exactly
where it is but, I used it after Chrome installed itself on my computer and
I removed it. It says hyperlinks not working in Outlook.

Can anyone help with this please, as it's really annoying.

[Blind-Computing] a problem with windows media player

2012-11-11 Thread Rosemarie Chavarria
Hello, everyone. Lately I’ve had a problem with windows media player. It will
no longer let me play certain files because when I hit enter on certain files,
I get an error message saying that windows media player doesn’t recognize them.
I know this isn’t true because I’ve been able to extract files and play them in
the past. This happens with ogg files and some music albums I have.

Any help with this problem will be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks in advance.

[Blind-Computing] LAP TOP BATTERY ISSUE

2012-11-11 Thread John Justice
I have a suggestion regarding the laptop battery issue unless the problem
has already been resolveds.

I don't know anything about Asus computers but in most cases, a system will
start acting like that when the battery is no longer able to receive a full
charge. Although laptop batteries are less prone to this problem than other
systems using rechargeable batteries, it does happen, occasionally.

1.Try ddisconnecting your laptop from the power source and allowing
the battery to fully discharge. Don't worry about your files. They won't
be lost. Just keep running the system on battery until you get the warning.

2.Remove the battery and carefully clean the contacts both on the
battery and in the laptop. The best way to do this is with a cloth
whichdoesn't leave any kind of residue. You can use a small amount of
denatured alcohol but only a small amount, enough to moisten not drench the
cloth.

3. Allow the battery contents to dry thoroughly.

4. Now, reassemble the unit and plug in your power source. Allow
enough time for the battery to reach full charge, at least three hours.

Unplug the electrical source.

Turn on the system and check the laptop battery reading. If it still shows
80%, you have a battery which has to be replaced.
If on the other hand, the battery shows full charge, you have resolved the
problem.

[Blind-Computing] Outlook2007 stops working?

2012-11-11 Thread Carliss
Listers,

>From time to time .net frame work keeps showing up when I open outlook2007.
When this happens, I can't use outlook. There is a continue button when
tabbing and a detail button but nothing happens wwhen they are pressed.
Infact, in order to use outlook I have to do a restore to a earlier time. I
think on yesterday I did two or three restores.

Will someone please tell me what I need to do to fix this, it completely
stops me from using my email program. I had to do a restore to write this
email.

Thanks for your help.

Re: [Blind-Computing] LAP TOP BATTERY ISSUE

2012-11-11 Thread Trish
Thanks for the help here.
I did unplug it, but it wouldn't come on just with battery. I haven't
cleaned it though.

Actually it's not even in the laptop, just running on A/C power. I have
contacted ASUS and they have responded for me to return the battery to them.

I wish I knew before hand I wasn't suppose to keep the battery in the unit
while it was plugged to wall outlet.
Thanks again for your suggestions..

Re: [Blind-Computing] Renaming a folder

2012-11-11 Thread John Justice
If you are using the Ribbon commands in Windows 7, do the following.

1. Make sure that you are currently in the folder you want to change. Then
activate the Ribbon menus by pressing the Alt key.
2. Tab until you hear the Folders option and press Enter to open that
submenu.
3. Under the Folders menu is a submenu called "Actions". Use the right
arrow to open that menu.
4. The first option is "Rename This Folder."

I don't know how to do this without using the Ribbon menus.
