Subject: [Blind-Computing] having trouble changing my home page in Web IE 4

Hi, everyone,

I just downloaded the newest version of web IE but now I can’t change my
home page to the one I really want. I went into the options menu and arrowed
down to “set home page” as soon as I went to startpage.com which is the site
I want. Web IE went to it at first but when I went out of it and then went
back into it, it went to the web IE home page instead. What could I be doing
wrong? I really like this new browser and want to use it but I want to be
able to select my own home page.

Any help will be very much appreciated.

Thanks very much for your help in advance.

[Blind-Computing] Removing Java From XP Computer?

2013-01-11 Thread Gerald Levy

I have the latest version of Java, version 10, installed on my XP Pro computer,
but there has been a lot of buzz lately that it is still highly vulnerable to
malicious attacks and therefore should be disabled or removed. So I'm
wondering: is Java really necessary at all? Is it safe to completely remove
it? Or should I keep it and just disable it on the Manage Add-Ons dialog of
the Options submenu of the IE 8 Tools menu? According to some tech experts,
disabling Java this way may not completely disable it and may still leave your
computer vulnerable unless you perform some additional registry tweaks, which I
don't feel comfortable doing. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi.
Once the authorization number is on the computer you will not need it again
until you reinstall windows.
In other words you can reinstall jaws as many times as you want on the same

This sounds like it might be a video problem, in which case re-installation
probably won't help.

If you can get someone to look at your screen and see if something is
wonky--font or text size for examples. Maybe check your video intercept to
see if it is working properly.

If all of this is okay, then you might try a re-install or repair.

Thanks.

Here's what jaws13 help says about video intercept. Sounds like a call to
freedom scientific might be in order.

Video Intercept Manager
The JAWS Video Intercept Manager detects problems related to video that may
prevent JAWS from functioning properly. The JAWS Video Intercept Manager
provides information on your video hardware and software that can help
Freedom Scientific Technical Support Engineers determine the cause of
failure to properly install JAWS Video Intercept.

Note: Troubleshooting and resolving situations that cause JAWS Video
Intercept often involves uninstalling and reinstalling software applications
and/or device drivers. We recommend only experienced computer users attempt
to resolve Video Intercept problems without assistance from Freedom
Scientific Technical Support.

Common causes of Video Intercept failures are listed below.

Incompatible Software
If incompatible software is installed on your system before you install
JAWS, the Video Intercept will fail to install. JAWS attempts to identify
the software causing this problem. If the software is identified, you can
attempt to uninstall the software, and install JAWS Video Intercept. Once
JAWS is functioning correctly, you should be able to reinstall the software
without causing any conflicts.

Other Assistive Technology Software
In some cases, if other assistive technology software is installed on your
system before you install JAWS, the Video Intercept will fail to install.
JAWS attempts to identify the software causing this problem. If the software
is identified, you can attempt to uninstall the software, and install JAWS
Video Intercept. Once JAWS is functioning correctly, you should be able to
reinstall the software without causing any conflicts.

Incorrect Display Drivers
If incorrect display drivers are installed on your system, JAWS Video
Intercept will fail to install. You may need to contact the manufacturer of
your display adapter hardware for assistance installing the correct display
drivers. After the correct display drivers are installed, JAWS Video
Intercept should install without problems.

That would still deliver the emails though and put them into the junk folder

specify the person's email address, and the action would be delete it from

Subject: [Blind-Computing] blocking emails in windows live mail

Hi, everyone,

I’ve been getting very nasty emails from sonebody I knew years ago. I won’t
go into a lot of details but a friend of mine was going with him years ago.
What I want to do is block his email address. I’m using windows live mail
2011. How do I block this person’s email address so I don’t receive any more
emails from him?

Thanks for your help in advance.

Rosemarie
