Check under the tools menu of Firefox and check if you have a submenu for
Webvism there. May be some settings of webvism have been tampered with or
changed, reset if required.

Just a suggestion, instead of putting a space in for the Jaws dictionary in
place of the ` key why don't you have it say, the time is instead.

Hi David.

I tried your suggestion of putting the ` key in with replacement text of a
space character in the dictionary manager.

You are right that when the ` key is encountered within some kind of text
nothing is spoken, but, when you press the ` key jaws says "space".

Therefore, this solution won't work for Carlos.

Listers,

In the settings of talking desktop clock, there is a keystroke setup for
anounceing the time. So I chose the grawv key sence we really don't use
that key any way. Maybe that was not such a good idea? But it does work,
the clock is saying the time, I just don't like hearing grawv before I hear
the time spoken.

Now I'm sure that we all know that the grawv key is just above the tab key

I remember some time ago, or should I really say, some years ago. I went in
to key labals and muted simbles, but that stopped all simbles from being
spoken.

I just now pressed the grawv key and talking desktop clock did tell me the
time, however, Jaws said grawv first. Jaws speaking at that moment can make
it kind of hard to hear the clock speaking, sence I'm using one of the
clock's voices, Robby the robot.

Thanks to all.

Generally, the jaws cursor will take you any where that the mouse would
go. To simulate a left click, use the jaws key and press the number 8. To
right click, use the jaws key and the number 9. This assumes that you are
using jaws of course. Smile.

Subject: [Blind-Computing] stopping the grawv key from saying grawv.

Listers,

In the settings of talking desktop clock, there is a keystroke setup for
anounceing the time. So I chose the grawv key sence we really don't use
that key any way. Maybe that was not such a good idea? But it does work,
the clock is saying the time, I just don't like hearing grawv before I
hear

the time spoken.

Now I'm sure that we all know that the grawv key is just above the tab key

I remember some time ago, or should I really say, some years ago. I went
in

to key labals and muted simbles, but that stopped all simbles from being
spoken.

I just now pressed the grawv key and talking desktop clock did tell me the
time, however, Jaws said grawv first. Jaws speaking at that moment can
make

it kind of hard to hear the clock speaking, sence I'm using one of the
clock's voices, Robby the robot.

Thanks to all.

I thought of that, but the dictionary manager insists that you enter
replacement text. Everything I tried spoke something.

You could try using the dictionary manager in effect telling jaws to not say
anything when that particular key is pressed.

Re: [Blind-Computing] stopping the grawv key from saying grawv.

2013-02-28 Thread Bob W
Hi Carlos.

When I first saw your message I thought "well, that should be simple." But,
it isn't simple.
Maybe I'm just making it too complex.

While playing around I discovered that a key that is passedThrough (insert
f3) is not spoken, but you get this long, message before pressing the key.

So, you could press insert f3, listen to the message, then press the ` key,
and hear the time.
Not satisfactory? I don't blame you.

So if I were doing this I would:
Write a one line script that said

script PassKeyThroughQuietly()

PassKeyThrough()

EndScript
Put this script at the bottom of my default script.
Then I would tie the PassKeyThroughQuietly to the ` key in the keyboard
manager.

But maybe someone else will have a better way to do this. I don't!
